(Photo Credit: The Oregonian)Even though Lehigh isn’t taking on any FBS teams this season, it’s not too early to take a look at the 2016 college football schedule and look at some of the games that pit FCS teams vs. FBS teams and look for potential ups…

My Vote for the FCS Top 25, 10/14/2013

My vote for the FCS Top 25 for the week ending 10/7/2013 follows below the flip.

But first, check out this great picture from James Madison of QB Michael Birdsong as he’s crossing the goal line against Richmond last week  (Photo Credit: Joe Mahoney/The Richmond Times-Dispatch)

The sad thing is, this picture was a great one – but Birdsong’s ostrich-like touchdown pose would not count for any points, since it would be called back for holding.

James Madsion would go into halftime with a 7-6 lead, but both teams would erupt in the second half, ending in a 38-31 marathon.  Dukes KR Dejor Simmons would take the second-half kickoff for a 100 yard touchdown run, and James Madison wouldn’t trail by any more than 5 after that point.

My Vote For The FCS Top 25, 9/23/2013

My vote for the FCS Top 25 for the week ending 9/23/2013 follows below the flip.

But first, by all means, enjoy this awesome shot of the Gardner-Webb/Wofford game this past week, played in a driving rainstorm.

The Runnin’ Bulldogs did some of their best wet runnin’ this past weekend, a drenched 3-0 win at Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with RB Juanne Blount of Gardner-Webb helping them control the clock for 37 minutes.  They did what it takes to win, in crazy weather conditions.

Game Preview: Lehigh At Momouth, 9/14/2013

How do you judge an 0-2 team?

It’s not just an academic question the week for Lehigh fans.

It’s way too easy to look at the scores in Monmouth’s first two games of the season – a 42-24 defeat against one of the top teams in the country, Montana State, and a 45-15 defeat on the road at Liberty, which, as any fan following Lehigh last year knows, is an awfully tough place to play.

If there’s a message head coach Andy Coen wants to deliver in between the lines, its simply not to necessarily expect Lehigh to score 40 points on the Hawks this week.

“This football team we’re playing I think is a better team than the one we just played even though they’re 0-2,” he told Mike LoRe of the Express-Times this week.

A 12th Game for Lehigh in 2013?

A 12th Game for Lehigh in 2013?

(Photo Credit: Lehigh Valley Live/Brown & White)

Back in November, I released a tentative version of Lehigh’s 2013 football schedule, which included 11 games.

There’s nothing earth-shattering about that, either.  Most seasons FCS football teams play 11 regular-season games.

But thanks to a quirk in the calendar next season, 2013 offers a rare opportunity for Lehigh: to play a 12th game.

For Lehigh or other schools in the Patriot League, is it a good idea to play a 12th game?

Absolutely.
