I feel pretty safe in saying that it was the largest-ever modern crowd Lehigh has ever played to. My question is whether Lehigh played against bigger crowds ever at Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Cornell when they were considered I-A. If I had to guess they never topped 20,000, but I’m not sure. I’m thinking the 1960s or 1970s.

In the olden days Lehigh played some games against NYU at Yankee Stadium, but those didn’t come close to 40,000 people. Even some of the hyped games in the Polo Grounds (Lehigh vs. North Carolina) didn’t top 10,000 fans.

I don’t think the modern I-A games Lehigh played (Army, Buffalo, UConn) came close to 40,000. As ng said, the closest was probably Army.
