The fullback was used much more often when the total Lehigh offensive arsenal was deployed. This included passes to the tight ends, a number of deception schemes, and other more complicated patterns. In more recent times, we have heard that the offense needed to be dumbed down because the traditional Lehigh offense was too complicated and difficult to master. Ergo, we witnessed more of a three yards and a cloud of dust approach where most first down plays were runs up the middle by less than stellar running backs and numerous three and outs. The offense became more boring and non productive and our opponents could read what we were doing. In the former times both the opponents and fans did not know what Lehigh would do next. Times certainly changed.
