Unless you thought Lehigh would have beaten Michigan State (I didn’t), there was no better deal financially for the league and all its members by playing in the PIG and winning it.
Holy Cross did get walloped by Oregon, but would have needed to play the perfect game to win and didn’t. They literally didn’t have any options past Champion. Charles in particular had a great game against us but was invisible vs. Oregon’s bigs.
