Perhaps to explain Lexi’s decision, Martins was given given a two year scholarship to GW even though she only has one year of eligibility left.

In other words, she leveraged her significant basketball abilities to get a great education through grad school at no cost. That sure beats the philosophy of giving up a great education in order to get more playing time IMHO.
