How many playoff appearances would there have been if Cecchini wasn’t brought back? The only reason Coen is still here is Cecchini’s tenure bought him extra time and goodwill. Who here thinks that was Coen’s decision? After watching him bring back a DC that finished in the bottom 10 out of 100+ teams the last two years, you will never convince me it was Coen’s idea to hire Cecchini. Most of his problems is his inability to properly staff a team.
He has been given more than enough time to prove he can do this job. It hasn’t happened and is becoming painfully obvious it will never happen. It is time the AD pulls the plug. Count me in as one that says COEN MUST GO!
While I am in the camp that thinks Mayes is a better passer and an overall slightly better option at QB, benching Shaf should come with a bit more restraint. He showed what he can do last year. He has the ability to change games at the QB position if the game plan emphasizes his abilities. That being said if improvement doesn’t come or he shows regression, we have the luxury of having a very good Plan B on the sidelines.
