My take is a bit different. Put simply – just not that good. Our expectations were too high. I think the “late runs” are fool’s gold; a team that’s up 14 with 6 minutes left simply isn’t gonna play with the same intensity they do when a game is close. D will soften, and O will slow down and not do the things that put them ahead.
Got killed on the glass, and the number of turnovers just does not reflect how ugly they were. Many were not forced TOs. Just panicked, “I have no idea what to do” throw-aways. With Andree out, we are now a really small team, with a short bench. An 8-man rotation is pretty lean; we have a 7-man rotation now.
The interesting thing, to me, is the degree to which we’re defying “new basketball”. 57.1% from the floor and 50% from 3 sounds great. 6/11 FT is odd, but by no means the difference-maker – “reverting to the mean” – we weren’t gonna shoot 80%+ for the year.
Once again, we weren’t able to make use of TK inside. I don’t know why that is. Are D’s scheming in a way that is preventing the feeds? Or are we intentionally going away from it after he eats a few? Felt like half of his (paltry) 11 FGAs were jumpers.
At this point, I think we’re battling with Holy Cross for the 3 spot in the PL.
