I watched the whole game (on PLN, not in person. LU is not a close drive (~4 hrs) and the Goodman experience these days is sub-par, but that is another issue).

Overall, disappointing result. As most of you noted, slow start and some VERY untimely and uncharacteristic plays on O hurt the outcome.

Lehigh’s D showed up in 2nd Half, but still gave up some big plays. Coen mentioned some adjustment they made at half-time that seemingly helped, but you just can’t forfeit a half.

3 things that really stuck out in my mind:
1. Some poor clock and down/play calling management, especially at the end of the first half. It was unfortunate that there were a couple of drops that would have been either 1st downs or TDs, but not going for a fresh set of downs seemed like a poor choice.
2. Some of the goal line O calls and then the QB-keeper on 4th & Inches were troublesome.
3. Where was this aggressive D that we were hearing about? I don’t recall a single blitz during the game. VU struck me as being faster and more physical.

This was a winnable game, but we played catch-up the entire game. Perhaps that is why we never got the run game really humming.

Generally, the loss is not a death-knell by any means, but it was another slow start to the season and I didn’t see much “fire” from the team. Maybe it was the grey weather, maybe the small crowd, but whatever, the team didn’t come out ready to play.

Here’s hoping they take things out on Monmouth.
