Three years ago, the Lady Hawks swept the then 13th ranked Aggies of Texas A&M in a pair of games decided by the identical score of 4-3. To say the team from College Station, Texas is looking for revenge this weekend is a bit of an understatement, as they take-on the Brown and White at 2:30pm, Friday in Round One Regional Play in Gainsville, Florida. The surprise factor is now gone; LU can no longer be viewed a Cinderella Team. You have to know the Aggie coaching staff and this year’s senior players, freshmen on the 2006 squad, have been seeing red – make that brown and white – for the past three years.

The Gainsville Regional also features the Nation’s #1 team, Florida. Wouldn’t it be fun – or should I say a thrill of a lifetime – for the girls to face them sometime during the weekend’s double-elim event. It could happen.

Make no mistake about it, Lehigh – despite it’s highly respectable 33-16-1 record (19 of those wins at home and only 6 on a neutral site) – is in over its head this weekend. The numbers below say it all.

Regional Participants / RPI / Record / Conference

Florida / 1 / 52-3 / SEC
Texas A&M / 32 / 31-19 / Big Twelve
Lehigh / 125 / 33-16-1 / Patriot
Florida A&M / 186 / 25-29 / Mideastern

That said, Lehigh can proudly boast of three Top 50 National Rankings. They are:
18th in Batting Average @ .311
44th in Fielding Percentage @ .968
48th in Runs/Game @ 4.9

Good luck, ladies. Enjoy yourself as you bring glory to our school and program.
