Now that was u-g-l-y. To quote Reed, “We had offensive efficiency in the first half and then really went haywire in the second.” Like most everything the good coach says, his words are carefully chosen. Haywire…..to be mentally confused or erratic; crazy; not functioning properly; broken. Yeah Coach, you might say.

> Will someone please make a basket?! We were inept shooting the ball, scoring 41 points in the final 32+ minutes of playing time and hitting just 10 buckets (8 two-pointers) in the second half. That’s one basket every two minutes! The 8-10 year old kids that entertain you at halftime do better than that! Going 2 for 11 with our 3’s and not scoring a point in 5+ minutes during the second half of play was nearly unwatchable. There was a time, I believe, that CJ (.379 on the night) went 0-7 (gave up counting) and had he not canned a meaningless 22 footer in the closing seconds, this would have been a 12 point drubbing to a team we “had” to beat and had led 21-10 at the second media timeout. Points do come from the foul line – something we know and excel at – but for some reason (mentally confused, erratic, crazy) we couldn’t get there in the second half. And, that’s after AU puts us in the bonus with 10 minutes to play! We finally got to the line with 2+ minutes to go. Too little, too late. As for CJ and his 29 attempts, why not? No one else, except for JH on this particular night, was lighting it up and #3 remains our best scoring option. JH? He scores a quick 11 in 10 minutes and was forgotten the rest of the way! What’s up with that? Thank goodness AU turned the ball over as often as they did (16 times leading to 16 pts.) or things would have been worse.

> There was a point in the second half when Wroblicky, their 6’10” sophomore center, had more rebounds than the entire Lehigh team. The kid pulled down 17 for the game and scored 18 – both triple his norm! He ate Gabe and Company alive. We were out-rebounded 44 to 27. Simon McCormack, their 6’4″ guard, had more boards (6) then Knutson and Greiner together. We shot .381 from the field and come away with only 10 Offensive Rebounds! Said another way, we miss 39 field goals and come away with 10 rebounds! How is that possible?

> Greiner is now 1 for 12 against AU this year. That’s in 50 minutes of playing time! Where are those drives to the basket? Maybe better pretend the opponents are wearing Mich. St. green.

> Gabe, I love ya, but it was cringe time watching you miss from 2-5 foot distances.

> Was everyone thinking ahead to their upcoming matchup with BU? Or, trying to figure out just what it’ll take to get into first or second by season’s end?

This was a night that our players looked mindless and tight. The two factors led to miss assignments and cold shooting performances. That about sums it up.

With five to go and hopefully three in the post- season, there’s still time. As any good Mets fan would tell you, “Ya gotta believe.”
