Did you know that……
> For the seventh year in a row, all games in the Patriot League Tournament will be played on the campus sites of the higher seed. Who remembers (how can you forget) our run through the tournament that began with an OT win over Navy and ended with Jose Olivero’s bucket to win it all against American in the Championship Game down in Upper Marlboro, MD? The date was March of ’04. Time to bring back the neutral site? What do you think?
> Since the Patriot League moved to its current format of having the higher seed play host to each game (beginning in 2007), home teams stand 17-7 in the quarterfinals, 11-1 in the semifinals and 5-1 in the championship game.
> No team seeded lower than second has ever won the conference tournament title, with the No. 1 seed capturing 16 championships and the No. 2 seed taking six titles.
> The top seed in the tournament has advanced to the
championship game in each of the 22 years the Patriot League Tournament has been played….The other title game appearances all belong to the No. 2 (14 times), No. 3 (7 times) and No. 6 (1 time) seeds.
On the women’s side, quarterfinal action gets underway on Thursday, March 7th with………
Colgate (8) @ Army (1)
Lehigh (5) @ Holy Cross (4)
Bucknell (6) @ American (3)
Lafayette (7) @ Navy (2)
Semifinals will be held on Monday, March 11 with the Championship Game scheduled for Saturday, March 16th.
