Well despite being shorthanded, this was perhaps the most impressive game of the season for a young mountain hawks team. Missing AD, SC, CB, and DC it would not matter as LU jumped on SHU from the opening tip and never looked back. Opening a big lead early behind JC, it never stopped all night long. JC had a career game, with 26/15 and probably 2/3 blocks to go along with his best game of his young career. Let’s not forget, the guy is playing in his 8th college game. He looked good today, was hanging around in the post a bit more then usual, challenged on defensive end, and hit 3 balls and mid range jumpers, as well as a few putbacks off his teammates misses. Career day in front of his mum from England. CS was hot in 1st half, getting a lot of good open looks and he buried them, I think had 11 at the half, another good game for CS. Mackey was the maestro man with a double double and career high 11 dimes, he was effective and at his best getting others involved. Kempton scored a bit early and then very late, but ended up in double figures. Whitfield, showed very very well again, mr versatility was in full effect today. Ended with 9/6, both career highs, but it was the different ways he effects a game that standout to you when watching. He went coast to coast twice off either defensive rebounds or steals and finished at the rim. He had a nice post up move that he drew contact on, and had a nice 17 foot step back jumper that fell. He rebounded in traffic with authority and he had a couple other nice passes that his guys didn’t finish, so his assists could have easily been 4 or 5. He was the only contribution off the bench, as MS and JG did nothing of note really. SW is pushing AP to bench, eating into AP minute and being that swing man at the 3 spot. Look at minute last few games for SW and AP, AP has been very quiet post his big first two games. Good win, SHU had played some good games so far, so nice win a home to hold serve at Stabler.
