1st Game Thoughts?

JMU struggled at MD because of 3rd down efficiency and penalties. If this continues this week,we have a shot to win.What does concern me is(310,310,290,290,295) against (240,245,255) up front. Vad Lee didn’t have a great game last week but a true talent at Qb for the Dukes.Also noticed they have 10 FBS transfers and are actually holding tryouts for ALL positions on Sept 8th. Hoping for a game in the 20s to low 30s.

Lookih at JMU OL and our DL,reminds me of a
game vs Princeton some yrs ago. Tigers had 2 All Ivy DTs both about 230.LU Gs were each 280+. We dominated scrimmage line. Post game Tiger coach said a great 230 lb LM would lose to a good 280 by him being worn down.

Temp in Low 80s, hopefully humid, and our depth on D will make a difference. Would love to see the TOP about equal,as in years past our D was on the field too much. Maybe use short passing game,and hope new RBs can move those chains.

Game will be big adjustment for JMU. UM LBs avged almost 250. Ours just over 200.Hell, UM LBs are heavier thzn our DL. Sincerely hope our guys are aji m little buggers.
Pre game jitters are doing quite well tonight.

Will there be more than 10,000 there on Saturday? Rarely happens at Goodman anymore outside of Laf. Last time JMU brought a big crowd. Would think the same this time but that was a playoff game.

Seems likely, JMU tavels well. I wonder if they will bfing there band,which is quite entertaining. A battle of the bands at halftime. Sat supposd to sunny and hot. Great day fod football.

I fully expect a sizable crowd. I went to both the men’s and women’s soccer games and was pleasantly surprised at the # of students attending. Athletes are supporting athletes.

Size, experience against Maryland and lack of LU experience/D-size worries me. JMU runs for 200-plus. JMU 35-17. As much as I bleed brown, can’t call me Homer this time.

Hopefully it’ll be closer.

How big are JMU’s lineman? I gather they got pushed around by Maryland, but that’s not to say they aren’t bigger than our guys. I know that’s a concern with our d-line, in general…

OL avg 300.UM DL about the same with LBs avg 245.

accuweather has 80% ,open question is when. Late afternoon and evening highest probability but pop ups all day.
