Few updates:
Darian Harris has committed to Creighton, and apparently LU has offered Ty Outlaw
Justin Byerly @Justinbyerly
Ty Outlaw of Roxboro (NC) Person, has been offered a scholarship from Lehigh. @RockCitys_Champ @GRoadBBallIt seems like Outlaw is generating high major interest as well, and he looks like a long shot.
June 25, 2012 at 3:21 pm #6176Two more names from Rivals:
Jevon Patton, 5’10 PG (NC)
Terrance LeFlore, 6’0 PG (AL)June 28, 2012 at 2:49 pm #6195Couple of updates:
Jeremy Morgan committed to Northern Iowa. It is unclear wether or not LU offered and we were not in his final 5.
We also have offered Nigel Johnson according to RecruitRecon.com which is not suprising considering half of the Ivy and Patriot have offered along with a few A-10 and CAA. American and Bucknell offered months ago, and I believe GW is strong in the running for Nigel, and I’m not sure where LU fits in.
June 29, 2012 at 2:51 pm #6199I was just curious about something regarding recruiting. We see these lists every year and the offers extended, and then we find out the commits later on. But, in a typical recruiting class of 3-4, how many offers will Lehigh need to extend to fill the class? Obviously, it is dependent on the quality of the kids offered, and each kid’s particular circumstances, and can change year to year, but it looks like we may extend about 10x as many offers as kids that commit. Is that about right? I also wonder how many offers a school like a Kansas, Kentucky, Duke or Carolina gives, where their redemption return should be much higher?
June 29, 2012 at 4:16 pm #6202A lot of it depends on how early the school gets commitments. I’d guess LU likely has at least 15-20 offers out there right now. If we get to September and it becomes apparent that the most targeted players are not going to sign, then a lot more offers would go out to the B list guys. By October, there could easily be offers to a total of 30-40 players if the class is still unfilled. Of course by that time, some of the players would be off the market – having committed to other schools or having had their offers pulled back due to a commitment from another player at the same position.
Bucknell last year probably did not make more than 5 or 6 offers in total, since two of their three signees committed around Christmas of their junior year and the third committed about April 1st. Those were the three earliest commitments in BU history. In contrast, this year no-one has committed super-early and as a result there are at least 24 players (probably more) who have received BU offers. About half are centers or 6-8 PF’s.
June 29, 2012 at 5:24 pm #6203Thanks for the info. That is what I figured. As a follow-up, what happens when you have, say 30, offers out there, and all of a sudden more guys want to commit than spots are available? You get 7 guys who want to take 3 available spots. Are they constantly calling guys to tell them their offers are now rescinded, and how does that play with their high school coaches, who they may have to go back to year after year for players? Do they rescind offers in sort of a tiered approach (first C level guys, then B level guys, etc), or do they rescind by position, so they don’t get 3 PGs, when looking for 1, etc?
June 29, 2012 at 8:38 pm #6205I’m certainly not an insider but I think many offers are prefaced with the caveat that the offer is off the table if another player at the same position commits first. Players/coaches should be fairly used to this since every school makes a lot more offers than they have spots.
July 3, 2012 at 1:54 pm #6208Another name:
Deris Duncan, 6’4 G (IN)
July 4, 2012 at 7:05 pm #6210Add another name, and this one is fairly interesting, Devon Thomas from Kimball Union Academy. Sound familiar, he is that spunky, quick, lead guard that was in all the Chuku videos that I posted this past season….he is good…little insert from the KUA hoop site below from the coaches blog..
Devon Thomas just emailed that he will be taking an unofficial visit to UVA this weekend. Also on the trip will be incoming 6-4 combo guard Malcolm Brent. Devon has been hearing from Arizona State, Robert Morris, Fairfield, Vermont, Lehigh, and many others. He’ll run the point for Mo Vasquez and Metro Boston during the July live period. Malcolm—will share the backcourt with Devon this summer— will be a junior at KUA. He is from the Baltimore area as well. Both players have ties to the Beyond Belief program.

Can JC get his old point high school pg to come to LU to be his new college pg??? This should be interesting to follow….could be nice get.
July 5, 2012 at 3:23 pm #6211Devon Thomas would be a phenomonal pick-up in my opinion. His athleticism and aggression are clearly apparent in the Chuku clips, and I think he could be a real difference maker in the PL.
Few more notes:
Josh Kozinski commited to Central Michigan and Ben Oberfeld committed to Bucknell. As of 6/27, Luke Worthington put us in his top 4 along with Penn, Yale, and Princeton.
As of 6/14 Marcus Foster had LU in his final seven along with SMU, Creighton, Kansas State, TCU, Texas and Oklahoma.
Apparently, LU has offered Jeremy Senglin of Texas as well as RJ Currington a 6’5 G out of Oak Hill in Virginia.

July 17, 2012 at 3:24 pm #6287Ohio University, Lehigh, Morehead State and Cornell are among the schools showing interest in Hughes senior point guard Angel Rivera, according to Hughes coach Bryan Wyant. Wyant said Rivera has been selected to attend the Chicago Five-Star Super Session (Aug. 10-12) and has been invited to an Elite National Showcase in New York City (Aug. 24).
July 22, 2012 at 2:17 pm #6292SBum – Man I’ve been doing some work on Worthington, and he is my number one big man target for next year, if we got him, I’d be really fired up man. It looks like he is going to put out a top 5 after AAU circuit, and I hope we stay in it, as I’ve heard he has over 25 offers right now, from many different levels including PL/IVY. Now maybe with our success on the court and success in landing midwestern players, we got a shot, but by all accounts he is having a big summer season, and is perhaps playing his way into a higher mid-major level school.
Check out the below, he shows a really nice touch in the paint. He is really adept at finishing with both hands, and has soft hands in terms of catching the ball down low and being able to go up quickly. He is pretty good at using his body to angle/leverage defender to create room to receive the ball as well as hold his ground fighting for rebounds. He’d be a really nice get for us and he would do really well in the PL. Also, it looks like he has room to add to his frame….he’s the one to watch for us down low, I’d be really fired up to land Luke, seems like a good kid in and outside of the hoops court.
