I’m hoping the Lafayette game is a night game, Stabler will be loud on a Sat night!
August 13, 2014 at 10:23 pm #15014LU15,
Welcome aboard. We are always looking for contributors and students have a much more unique perspective to what is happening in the Lehigh athletic arena. Continue to post.September 2, 2014 at 12:10 pm #15239It’s official, the Golden Griffins of Canisius will be coming to Stabler on Tues., Nov. 18th. Still hoping to land another at home.
September 2, 2014 at 2:28 pm #15250Good to hear. I assume Canisius is the start of a series, and getting a home game is always a positive. They had some good years recently, largely due to Billy Baron (coach’s son) playing for his dad when his talent probably dictated a spot in a better league. They will be young next year but Jim Baron is a decent coach and hopefully they stay respectable for the duration of the series.
September 4, 2014 at 3:04 pm #15283Not sure if this has been posted, but here is a tweet from Eric Watkins of VUsports with a date for the Nova game in Allentown:

the 14 Nov, #Villanova – Lehigh game at the new PPL arena in Allentown should be a fun – a homecoming game for @DarrunHilliard4 #NovaNationAdded some dates to the unofficial schedule. Still waiting on a few more confirmations and dates, and maybe one more game. Would love to see it be LaSalle or Drexel.

Home to SFUSeptember 4, 2014 at 3:43 pm #15288As soon as that’s official, i’m planning a LU weekend trip. Nova on Friday, ‘Gate on Saturday. Perfect.
September 18, 2014 at 4:23 pm #15626Woot! Schedule is now up:
Looks pretty good to me; eager to hear what others think.
September 18, 2014 at 8:05 pm #15629Few thoughts.
1) It’s only a 28 game schedule, so 1 game short of max allowed
2) Pleasantly surprised to NOT see a D3 game, which sort of negates the point above since we have had one the last few years. We are basically playing 28 D1 games this year vs 28 D1 and 1 D3 in past years
3) The homecoming guarantee games (Depaul for Simelton and ASU for Kempton) continue which is a philosophy I am fine with.
4) Villanova at PPL is fun, but I would still love to see (at least) one of Drexel, LaSalle, St. Joe’s on the schedule every year with one in Philly in front of alums and another in Bethlehem.
5) Columbia has a good chance at being the best team to come through Stabler this year, depending on how the Patriot League plays out. The Lions should be excellent.
6) Canisius will be way down from where they were last year, but still an addition to the schedule that I am fine withSeptember 18, 2014 at 10:24 pm #15632Like everyone else, I was hoping for Drexel or another Philly-area opponent. Apparently, Drexel was looking for a Home ‘n Home (Basketball Travelers Website) but their open dates in December must not have matched ours. Hey, maybe next year. But, reading between the lines in the press release, I’m pumped to know that both Quinnipiac (KenPom 145 with a 20-12 record) and Canisius (KenPom 122 with a 21-13 record) are more than one-off dates. They’re being billed as “series” opponents.
Looking for a road trip? LUHoops00 and I would highly recommend you set aside your Christmas shopping for one day and make your way up to Hamden, CT on Thursday, December 18th. No doubt, you’ll find us there in Row 1 behind the LU bench. It’s an awesome venue and the home to the Quinnipiac Bobcats.
Our 10 OOC Opponents (by the numbers):
Average KenPom Ranking (21013-14 year-end): 181.0
Combined 201-14 W-L Record: 166-155September 19, 2014 at 10:32 am #15641Very little to complain about in this schedule when compared to prior years. No D3 games is a plus and we don’t play 8 NEC teams so we got that going for us. Love nova at ppl, hope we utilize ppl more in future, which leads me to the point that SBum and 65 brought up which is no set scheduled series with a st joes Drexel lasalle school yet, and maybe the ppl is the way we lock up series with some of these schools because we need to have more Philly presence and games to get alimni fired up, and bigger crowds. Also love homecoming games for TK and ms, very cool.
As 65 indicated the Q facility is very very solid. We will be back this winter for that game!!
Quick show of hands, who is going to the Nova game at ppl?
September 19, 2014 at 10:58 am #15642Count me in! And, the following day, too,as LU hosts Colgate in football. Should be quite a weekend! LUHoops00, thinking of a road trip and an overnight stay?
September 19, 2014 at 11:51 am #15643I gotta clear it with the wife, but I’m planning to do that LU weekend as well – ‘Nova, then Colgate.

I have doubts that it’s a scheduling issue. I think it’s probably that someone doesn’t want to play the other, or doesn’t like the terms offered. Drexel has been complaining for years about the difficulty in putting together a schedule (especially home games), as has Lehigh. There is no reason they couldn’t have booked a 2014-15 game back in 2012. Also, Reed has shown no desire to play Philly schools. Penn a couple seasons ago was part of the preseason NIT, and Nova this year is a special situation.
Hopefully as Hoops suggests, the PPL Center will change the dynamic, but it certainly seems to me that Philly (or A-10/CAA games for that matter) are not a priority for the staff.
On that note, would have liked to see the Fordham series continued. They haven’t been very good in a while, but they are still an A-10 series and have been recruiting well lately. Pecora might finally have them on the right track.
October 17, 2014 at 2:47 pm #16083It looks like based on Lehigh’s schedule and my personal schedule that I’ll almost definitely get to the Wednesday 1/14 game at American and the Saturday 2/7 game at Loyola. (I wish the game at UMBC was scheduled for sometime besides immediately after Christmas when ironically I’ll be in the Lehigh Valley visiting family; had that game been a couple days later, on a weekend, or a 7:30 PM weeknight start I would go to that game too.)

I think Lehigh will play a D3 opponent, but which school that will be hasn’t been determined yet. That game will be added to the schedule at a later date.
