I don’t remember seeing this name before

Mike LeBlanc SF 6-6, 186 New Hampton Prep Offer

LeBlanc is indeed a new name, but I can’t find evidence of an offer. Reported interest via Twitter on july 18th and verbalcommits has Lehigh listed as “interested”. He does appear to have offers from Brown, Binghampton, and UNH.

We have offered B.J. Taylor according to this blurb on 24/7 sports:

    – 2014 Point guard B.J. Taylor (Orlando, Fla./Boone) has picked up new offers recently from Miami and Central Florida. They have joined a list that already included Lehigh, Boston University, Jacksonville and Florida Atlantic. Taylor said he is open right now and waiting to see what all his options are before narrowing things down.

C.J. Davis of Archbishop Molloy in NYC has included Lehigh in his list of his final 7 schools. It’s going to be a tough battle to win however. Here is a blurb from the NY post:

Archbishop Molloy rising senior guard C.J. Davis announced a final seven of Stanford, Columbia, Lehigh, Boston University, Miami, Seton Hall and Davidson.

Thanks TMH. Had Langberg but Charles and Shea are new to me. Excited about Jenkins visit, it looks like he is pretty legit based on video/offers/summer performance. He does appear to be a pure point guard in size and style, and I am a big fan of Simelton (never having seen him play). If he or another pure PG commits, it will be interesting to watch that play out.

SB I’ll defer to you expertise but from the videos he looks to me more of a combo, a scorer who can handle

I just re-watched Rich and you’re right. He definitely seems like a scorer in a PG’s body and would be described as a combo guard. Most of his write-ups also mention his scoring as his top attribute. In that case, I am more excited if he were to commit since we have no established wing scorers on the current roster!

Couple questions for all of my buddies here:
    1. How many schollies we got to offer class of 14?
    By class I count:
    CS SC CB
    DC JG JC
    MS AP SW TK
CR apparent walk on with shot at schollie next year.
JRG we are mixed as whether schollie or walk on.
So if you figure one of this two are schollie next year and we use full 13, it would appear we got two to offer. It’s 7 am so correct my math if I messed this up.

    2. What positions do you want to see us bring in if we assume we have two schollies to offer?

I think we would try for one guard and one big. Regarding guard, find best available, if its a pg fine. If its a combo or sg, fine. Same with frontcourt, if its a hybrid or a power/center, go with best abailable.

    3. Based on web, twitter, has anyone reduced out of all the offers we have made, who is on our staffs short list of say top 5 guys?

Gehring has a lot of mid major interest, pretty athletic and has good body control for a big man. Showed some nice little post moves, some GK up and unders and a lefty hook. Wonder if we can keep IA pipeline full, seems like he would be a good get for us.

@hoops: thinking about your question #2 this morning, and realizing how tough the recruiting job must really be. It feels like I need to see the team we’ve got now, this season, to make a good decision there. I suspect that it’s harder than usual this year, since we graduated so much production – I don’t envy the staff right now.
At a gut level, it feels like we probably need scoring first and foremost – maybe even regardless of position. So many unknowns right now. With a crystal ball to see what JC, TK, AP, SW, and even DC can contribute it would be a lot easier to prioritize. I think our only real confidence can be at PG – MM and CS have us covered for now, and I’m really hopeful about MS from what I saw online. But who knows?

    1) I’m on record as thinking JRG is on scholarship. I think we only bring in two guys from the 2014 class barring someone leaving the program. Could be wrong though.

    2) I would really hope that we get another big and I think the second position doesn’t particularly matter.

    3) This one is a lot harder. Based on visits and social media indications that Lehigh is recruiting a guy particularly hard or a player has more than a passing interest in Lehigh. The following names stand out to me:
Tyler Jenkins (on an unofficial now and already working on scheduling on official)
Rod Mills (multiple mentions and a visit)
Jevon Carter (said in July Lehigh and Toledo were recruiting him hardest)
C.J. Davis (we’re in his final 7 but a longshot)
Kedrick Flomo (staff has gone to see him play multiple times)
Unfortunately, there are no big men in that list, but I think that is more because the info isn’t out there. I trust, and sincerely hope, the staff is planning on bringing on more size.
