Saw my first one today, from College Sports Madness; seems like a good time to start a thread. They’ve got us at #119 nationally, which is pretty strong IMO.
I think it’s an unusually accurate look; whoever wrote it seems to have done some homework. It does put a big, somewhat scary, emphasis on MH’s role this year.
July 15, 2016 at 6:05 pm #27222nice write up, agree that Holba is the key, hope he is as advertised and with Alston back depth should be much better

September 28, 2016 at 2:59 pm #28416CSM released their pre-season All Mid-Major teams, and Tim was selected to the first team. Congrats, TK!!
September 28, 2016 at 4:21 pm #28419Nice!!
The write-up on Lehigh, projected at #119 was well done too. I don’t remember if anyone pointed it out before.September 28, 2016 at 5:14 pm #28420Looks like KL will wear #2 jersey this season, a change in your program from #10 last year. Team photo shows one thing for sure, a lot of big dudes on this year’s squad.
September 29, 2016 at 3:59 am #28427Picked up the Athlon CBB preview last week which has Lehigh as first in the Patriot League and Kempton as POY.
Also got my Blue Ribbon Digital Download today. For those not familiar, Blue Ribbon is more expensive than the typical newstand previews but does a full page on every team – instead of the few sentences mid majors typically get. Also includes coach quotes and is easily worth the $ in my opinion.
Reed is high on Andree’s ability as a shooter and sees Lieb adding competitiveness and toughness. One interesting note was Reed acknowledging that there will not be enough possessions to go around and that attitude and maturity will go a long way in how successful the team is.
October 6, 2016 at 2:24 pm #28592This is going to take some getting used to. That is, having 6 of our 13 players (Transfer Lance Tejada will be sidelined until next season) stand 6’8” or above. It’ll give us the unique ability to “go big” at times, protect those up front in foul trouble, and hopefully give opposing coaches fits in game-planning for us. Hell, Xavier only has 4 that big!
It’s about this time each year that I, and I assume all other fans – casual and otherwise, dig deep into background stories surrounding our new players. I, for one, walked away impressed and wish to thank those fans and posters to the Board for the informative stories on: Cohen, Lieb, Wolf, Holba, Sedore, and Andree. What is there not to like when you couple them with a mature and oft-times award winning squad featuring: TK, AP, BA, KR, and KL? And, let’s not forget the dedicated and spirited play of senior/returnee Devon Carter and walk-on Jay Jay Davis. Coach Reed has surrounded himself with talent like never before. Now, he and his assistants must make it work. It’ll be fun to watch and I’m betting Tim, Austin and Devon out on top next April.
Hunch…
Newcomer / Star Player: #31 Pat Andree
OOC Record: 7 and 436 days to Xavier
October 26, 2016 at 2:32 pm #28999Another preview now available, over at NBC Sports. Lehigh projected on top here too:

KenPom Preview
Here’s a quick look at the PL Teams’ OOC Schedules in terms of average degree of difficulty based solely on KenPom’s Preseason Rankings (1 thru 351).
Team / # Top 100 Opponents / Average Ranking of All Opponents
Bucknell / 7 / 140.5
Lehigh / 3 / 175.9
American / 3 / 178.8
Holy Cross / 4 / 180.2
Boston U. / 3 / 181.2
American / 4 / 184.3
Lafayette / 3 / 189.2
Colgate / 3 / 190.3
Navy / 4 / 190.7
Loyola / 2 / 192.6For those who can’t get enough of the Bucknell/Lehigh wars, the two schools have scheduled 4 ‘like opponents’ this year. They are: Princeton, Robert Morris, Mount St. Mary’s, and LaSalle. Just something to keep your eyes on. Damn, November 11th can come quick enough!
October 26, 2016 at 9:10 pm #29002Note that the Lehigh average would be 195+ if Cabrini had been included. Many of the others would also be worse, since only Navy, Holy Cross, Bucknell, and American don’t play a D2/D3.

October 26, 2016 at 9:40 pm #29004B137, of course. But what weight would you assign to a D2/D3 opponent were you to even consider including them in the report? Just to be clear, this survey encompasses only D1 opponents. And, it goes without saying that The Bison took on the heaviest load. Good luck to all from Nov. 11th to December 29th.
November 11, 2016 at 1:32 am #29291Not sure how I missed this, but Mark Adams from ASN posted his PL preview a few days ago. Definitely one of my favorite hoop-talkers; he’s great for mid-majors. (@EnthusiAdams)
