A 6’3 180 PG from Menlo HS Cal.
Quick scan a lot of Cal preps write ups on him as a D1 PG.

Leave to the mavens to interpret :)

Another completely off the radar commit. At least here on the east coast. Lots of highlights on Youtube. I’m amazed that VC has nothing on this kid. Video shows a decent combo guard. But what do I know. My uneducated evaluation: could be a big time sleeper. Not overly athletic, but lots of court smarts. Arcidiacono wasn’t overly athletic either for Villanova that year.

I’m also amazed at how high school kids move from coast to coast, apparently for athletic reasons. Joe spent his sophomore year at a school in Virginia so he could play both soccer and basketball (per an online interview). The seasons apparently conflict on the west coast.

One source says he will be a walk-on. We will see.

Saw that jim but I doubt he is WO. Also not an expertvbut watched a lot of his video. Smooth player excellent passer. Definitely would not describe him as unathletic.

Regardless of my evaluation and that source, he scored 40 in a competitive high school game last season. And kids don’t usually come from California to Pennsylvania to walk-on. I’m hopeful he will be a contributor right away.

Pretty early signed class. 3 by first week of November, not bad.

Foley not being included in the press release I think confirms he is indeed a walk on.

So, if my math is correct, next year looks like this:

    Scholarship Players (12)

KL, LT, CS – 3 seniors
Sedore has more eligibility if he chooses to use redshirt

EP, JC, JL, PA – 4 juniors
Lieb has more eligibility if he chooses to use redshirt

CB, JK, MW – 3 sophomores

    JW, NL – 2 freshmen

    Walk-Ons (3)

    JW (another) junior
    SA soph
    JF fresh

Roster of 15, of scholarship players breakdown as follows:

6 “bigs” (2 who have never played)
JK, JL, NL, EP, CS, JW

    5 “wings”
    KL, LT, PA, CB, MW

    1 “pg”
JC, with LT also getting minutes at the 1

I’m confortable with JC as the starting point guard, and getting most of the minutes. But we need another competent point guard in this class. Hopefully Brett has another surprise/late commit up his recruiting sleeve.

You nailed it for the most part ’90. Although I think Jeameril Wilson will end up being more of a big wing type than a 4 man. And I could see Marques Wilson playing some point guard backing up Cohen next year.
