The good news in the second half, besides the 35-16 win, is that the offense did NOT struggle. Whether this refects improvement by the offensive unit or a case of BU giving up the fight remains to be seen.
Barkett and Walker both scored, making it five different players to score five TD’s. The ground game was effectively established for the first time this season, and that will surely be needed against Colgate next Saturday.
In the fourth quarter, the O did a good job of eating up the clock by running the ball on nearly every play, keeping the ball in bounds, and even successfully going for it on fourth down.
As Rich has noted, the penalties remain a concern, especially the three unsportsmanlike conduct calls, which were completely unnecessary. JJH

Yes, the penalties were troublesome. We have to be smarter than that. That stuff can cost you big time in a close game. Still, there seemed to be some momentum built during the game and the attempt to still run despite the rough start in the first quarter. Barket reminds me of similar back we had a few years ago, Eric Rath, who had a low center of gravity. Something to build on for next week. A real tough one on the road against a group who will be real pissed after getting dumped by Holy Cross.

It was a nice win. Not to tinkle on anyone’s parade, but it was against another perennial P.L. cellar dweller. Let’s see what happens in Hamilton next week before any conclusions are drawn as to whether there has been any improvement.

I don’t think that Georgetown or Bucknell wins prove anything but Lehigh is the best of the worst.
