BRAD SMITH DE 6’4 228 Fl ** decommitted from USF committed LEHIGH.
Offers from Duke, AF, BC, Furman, HC.
When Holtz left USF, he reopened recruiting.

    Reported by Tampa Bay Times.
    ESPN #73 ***, Scouts **.
According to article Smith’s Dad announced Tuesday night.

One caveat, verbals are not binding until LOI signed. Just a bit of reality in this new world of schollies. Going to enjoy this verbal anyway.

This is AWESOME!  How many recruits are we expecting for 2013?

19 srs.left, so depends on how Andy splits up 15 schollies.which is max for this yr. He can offer need aid above this up to max of 85 recruited players on squad.
How many equivalencies we have now ambiguous. Unlike FBS, we can split schollies. So some may receive 1/2 schollies and balance need aid.
    My guess is low 20s.

You da man Rich. Keep them coming. I like this get..high caliber and at a need position. We may have to schedule a game in Florida soon. I think we have as many recruits this year from FL as PA so far.

Nice to get a 3*** in an area where we really need depth!

    WHY?
According to interview today he switched.to LU because he can play right away. USF planned to greyshirt him.

Even in the FCS, his playing time is going to be predicated at least partially by how quickly he can legitimately add another 20 lbs to that frame. He is listed at 220 by almost every service. Perhaps we have another Nick Martucci, who was a thin DE his freshman year but then grew to about 245 on his 6-5 frame.

Nick was a beast. If Smith can be as good Andy got a gem. I think what he meant was that he would get to compete for a spot right away rather than sit out for a year. Greyshirts , I think , he sits out for the year. I’ll check but I think they are non roster. Ok, he would delay entry to USF til 2nd semester so that he would not lose a yr of eligibility. Still signs a NLOI, but retains all 5 yrs eligibility.

A great get for LU! I remember Martucci. This kid could easily grow two inches and add 20-30 lbs over the next few years.

Still need a NG. Or someone to step up. Frosh all look like DE types.

Yep, probably the biggest ?? going into spring, even bigger question than QB.  Most other positions pretty set, although always a surprise or 2.

Hopefully there will be more pleasant surprises in this class.

Raises the Q that if we don’t have a ‘monster’ NG, do we revert to a 4-3, or even multiples?

Doc happy. I kinda think these types of guys, reaches for our level, can be the difference makers. And when coupled with a few gems we get that develop late (and as a result the big schools lay off of) we get some PLAYERS! Hope Coach keeps the momentum.
