All-League Predictions

Hi everyone! I’ve been reading this forum for about 4 years now, so I figured I’d try actually posting something for once. Thought I’d give my thoughts on who I saw as the league’s best players this year (if no one minds). No need to respond, just felt like sharing, but obviously don’t mind feedback!

QB – Brad Mayes

3,553 yards and 28 touchdowns makes this a pretty easy choice.

RB – Dom Bragalone, Lehigh…James Holland, Colgate –

Bragalone’s another easy pick. 1,313 yards and an FCS leading 18 touchdowns (not to mention 184 receiving yards and 3 more TDs) means Bragalone’s probably the PL MVP as well
Holland bounced back from some early season injuries to finish second in PL with 722 yards. Also second with 6 rushing touchdowns

WR – Troy Pelletier, Gatlin Casey, Lehigh…Blaise Bell, Holy Cross –

Pelletier had 95 catches, 1198 yards, 9 touchdowns. Statistically the best receiver in league history. Another easy one. Casey snagged 49 grabs for 747 (second behind Pelletier) and 11 touchdowns (led the league)
Bell moved from QB to wideout and had 46 grabs for 601 yards and 8 touchdowns, which only trailed Lehigh’s duo

H Back – Isaia Searight, Fordham –

Was first team at this position last year, so I put him here again, which opened up a spot another good player at tight end. 353 yards and 7 touchdowns is impressive from either spot.

TE – Dylan Wadsworth, Lafayette –

Real shame he couldn’t play against Lehigh, but had a great season with 41 grabs for 333 yards and a score

OL – Zach Duffy, Tim O’Hara, Lehigh…Ryan Paulish, Andy Simms, Colgate…James Murray, Holy Cross –

Not sure how the coaches that dissect the film will vote, but this is my best guess based on how their respective offenses performed this year

DL – Nick Wheeler, Colgate…Teddy Capsis, Holy Cross…Christian Tate, Georgetown…Simeon Page, Bucknell –

Wheeler was tops in the league in sacks this year, and his 11.5 are the second most in school history.
Khristian Tate had 69 tackles, 13 for a loss, 5 sacks and a pick-6
Capsis was third in the league in sacks with 6, and had an additional 8 for a loss.
Page, I’m pretty sure, played linebacker, but was consistently listed as a defensive end, so why not. 74 tackles, 13 TFLs and 8 sacks would make him ROY if not for Breneman’s season at Colgate.

LB – Brandon Bryant, Lafayette…Nick McBeath, Holy Cross…Glenn Cunningham, Fordham –

Bryant led the league in tackles with 133 (8.5 TFL’s, 3.5 sacks) and was the leader of, arguably, the league’s best defense.
McBeath was second in the league in tackles with 114, had 13.5 TFLs, 4.5 sacks, and picked off 2 passes.
I chose Cunningham over some good ones (Holy Cross’s Ryan Brady and Bucknell’s duo of Richard and Pyles), but the freshman led his team with 82 tackles, 9.5 of which went for losses, had 5.5 sacks and a pick.

DB – Phillip Parham, Lafayette…Antonio Jackson, Dylan Mabin, Fordham…David Akere, Georgetown –

Parham was the league’s best corner, led the PL with 7 picks, and was an obvious choice.
Antonio Jackson was second with 4 picks, and although he didn’t have an interception, 19 pass breakups from Mabin was by far the most in the league and has to be rewarded IMO.
Akere only defended 5 passes this year (2 INTs) but led the Hoyas with 99 tackles from his safety position and was arguably their best player

RS – CJ Amill, Lafayette –

Solid year returning kicks all season, and the house call against Lehigh sealed this one in my mind

K – Chris Puzzi, Colgate –

Maybe a homer pick, but he had more converted kicks than Lehigh’s Mish, and was more accurate than Bucknell’s Burdick

P – Alex Pechin, Bucknell –

Dropped 34 inside the 20 (led the league), sent 25 over 50 yards (led the league), and had an average of 45.1 (led the league)

OPOY – Bragalone
DPOY – Bryant
ROY – Breneman
COY – Hunt

I think perhaps the biggest miss on the above predictions was the absence of Bucknell DT Abdullah Anderson who made All-PL as a frosh, as a soph, and as a junior. His stats don’t look great because he was double-teamed on virtually every play the entire season. But the coaches know why they were double-teaming him. He was named DPOY.
