Saw a spot on NCAA for an asst Bball coach. Is this old or has someone left?

Kyle Griffin leaving for Robert Morris. http://hoopdirt.com/robert-morris-dirt/

Not an insignificant loss as Griffin seemed like a quality recruiter with good connections. Can’t speak to his ability beyond that, but doesn’t mean he wasn’t an excellent skill dev’t and X & O’s guy as well.

Thanks SB. Hope it works out for Kyle. A move up or sideways?

HoopDirt tweeted about this a couple of days ago. At that time he described the position as “top assistant” at Robert Morris.
I don’t have a good enough grasp on coaching structures or his position at LU to say if this is a promo or not. But it sounds like it’s supposed to be.

If it’s the #1 assistant job at RMU, it certainly sounds like a promotion. The vacancy was created by their #1 assistant Joe Gallo leaving to become head coach at Merrimack.

I’m somewhat surprised – assuming Hoopdirt is correct – that RMU didn’t promote #2 assistant Robby Pridgen, who is entering his 8th season as an assistant there. Perhaps they’ll be viewed as sharing the top spot?

I would still love to see a big man coach at Lehigh. Just my personal opinion.

Can we assume Brett knew this was a possibility and has been shopping for a replacement?

Given the plethora we have now of bigs, a big man coach seems like a real necessity. We dont look to be a 4 G team too often over the next few seasons.
Has Doc ever had a coach for bigs?

I don’t recall a specific “bigs” coach, ever. But my attention to our hoops definitely dropped off for a while – until, oh, about 2009.

I also can’t help but chuckle when I see your line about the “plethora” of bigs, though. It’s absolutely accurate – but even this time last year we were panicky about an overload of guards. Funny how quickly things change. It does show me, however, how important it is to have more balanced classes. Guard heavy, then big heavy, makes for experience problems.

:-) Couldn’t help it. Seriously I look at our front crfrontAftercTK we have no experience.unless we consider BA a SF.
