Great win for the Hawks! JC stepped his game up and TK was very good. MM clutch today and LU needed it. Two questions that have been driving me crazy as someone who has watched every minute of all but two games. First I get that AP went to a basketball factory HS and has shown flashes of very good play. My question is what warrants continued starts and number of minutes? As I see it he does not rebound, does not create easy opportunities for fellow teammates, is suspect on d, and has some serious turnovers and fouls at poor times. He does have a few spurts when he gets hot from 3 but does that warrant number of minutes? Someone please help me on this one. My second question, MM obviously is super quick and athletic but seems to be a below average on the ball defender. I see it as a lack of priority on his part, am I over critical or do some of you agree?

In response to pafan11 regarding AP, I agree that he might not deserve to start, at least not every game. But if you look at the other 3’s available, who’s obviously better? I personally think he’s one of those kids who’s so smooth it doesn’t look like he’s moving. I’ve seen good potential in his move to the basket. He just doesn’t go strong often enough in my opinion. He does take I’ll advised 3’s, but I’ve seen less of that lately. I agree he gets beat bad from time to time on defense (brain freeze?), but in general I think he’s acceptable considering it’s his first year. But he has to get better on D. As for MM, what can you say? When he’s out of control, ugh. When he takes care of the ball, he’s great, and it ain’t gonna’ change. Defensively, he is what he is. My question on Mackey is…..6′???? I don’t think so.

And finally, I respectfully submit at this moment you are being just a tad too critical. I’m really psyched after what I see as the biggest win of the year, and maybe considering the youth on the team, the biggest win since Duke!

First of all congratulations to the team, big win, and this is one of the rear comments that I agree with you (2nd one is about mm), jimk72. AP potential is one thing and situation right now is the other one. SC is a better choice right now, period. BR digs deep hole at the beginning almost every game, and they have to work hard to get out of it. Some players can make numerous mistakes, and still play 30+ minutes. AP is a sweet player but he is not CJ, sorry. SC made one (unnecessary) TO and he was benched right away, until very last seconds when doc needed him desperately. This isn’t new in SC’s case. How the hell is he going ever to gain confidence and play the game. That was a bad move to punish so hard for one mistake, sorry, especially that it came after he scored a big 3-pointer. I would like to see anybody in this world to confidentially play if you have to look over your shoulder all the time knowing, you are going to leave the game as soon as you make a mistake.
Good luck to BR, but it is time for change.

I am constantly befuddled by this team’s play. How they can look so out of sync in one half and then torch the net the second is beyond me. Constantly digging holes. Yes, it is a ‘young’ team, but he season is now more than 1/2 over. A lot of talent but it really needs to be molded. I think the Coach is still searching for the right chemistry. Some horrid TO’s in the first half, but what a comeback! Says a lot about the group. A lot of teams down 15 on the road could pack it in. These guys believe in each other, which is very important. There are five losses by four or less on the season, or the record would be unreal. They have the ability, they just need to get consistent….and PRACTICE THEIR FOUL SHOOTING!(;-)

Real nice win, and contributions from a lot of different guys. Rough day for AP, but he’ll be fine.

When Tim and JG are both playing well, they are a dynamite combo bringing very different skill sets to the 5. JC played a very nice game as well. MS did a decent job spelling Mackey in the first half, and then Mackey was great in the 2nd half and OT.

Great to see this team maturing a bit and winning these close games. If they could just find a way to eliminate those 5-10 minute stretches when they are awful, they could be pretty good. It’s going to be a fun 2nd half of league play either way.

sure miss AD, all the talk about AP and the 3 by committee would be gone if AD was healthy, agree that SC is the best option at the 3 right now

I’m thrilled. Fun, exciting game – and came away with a big win. Agree with Jim completely that is probably our biggest win of the year, to date. I still feel like things are looking up. Every reason to believe we can beat anyone in the PL. But I’m not getting cocky – Army and AU on the road are daunting tasks. Splitting those would be a very good outcome, I think.
I also think the lineup and rotations are starting to gel. I just wish we’d hear something about AD. At this point, my hope is that he’d like to stick around and can get a medical redshirt.

I loved the last few games. That last play against BU, AWESOME! Keep up the great work young men. I am preoccupied with junior high and high school games, a little late responding on the board. So much fun to see the kids develop. Nice to see the freshman setting the tone.
