I have no doubt that fatigue was an issue at the end; 5 bench points doesn’t help. Stats were really remarkably even – except for shooting. Bucky simply has a lot of good shooters, and we didn’t shoot well in the first half. I’d love to see more of our guys have “average” shooting nights on a regular basis, rather than a great night and then a clunker.
Sometimes the game really is simple. Put the ball in the basket.January 12, 2016 at 2:14 pm #24797AP a prime example. So streaky. It would be great if he could shoot around his avg on a regular basis. When he is off,we dont have another outside shooter to step up.
January 12, 2016 at 4:37 pm #24798Tough loss. Again we didn’t play a complete game. Thought ap did a great job on hass in first half. Bucknell deff wanted to give Timmy his and shut down ap. Outside Kyle and Tim nobody really stepped up. What’s up with Ross. I expected a lot more from him this year. And goldy I can tell is frustrated with his role. Not sure what happened but goes from starter to barley playing now. I can tell it’s
Getting to him. Three winnable games coming up.January 12, 2016 at 4:39 pm #24799Again we didn’t play a complete game. Thought ap did a great job on hass in first half. Getting to him. Three winnable games coming up.January 12, 2016 at 7:01 pm #24800This season going right down the shoot. Talk about no bench output. Hard to believe we gave scholarships to some of our bench players. They give you nothing.
The Bucknell loss was expected (I thought we would lose home and away), but the Army home loss looking bad now. They lost to both Bucknell and Lafayette at home. And, the Loyola road loss was bad. We should be 4-1 at this point, and instead are 2-3, and not on the upswing. Already 3 games back in conference. This could be over for us, after the first trip through. And, no reinforcements on the horizon. KR needs to step up his game.
Schedule is incredibly favorable for awhile. If we played well, we could win our next 7. Of course, we never win at HC (next game) and BU on road, should be tough. But, outside of those 2, we should roll. Should being key word.
January 12, 2016 at 7:43 pm #24804Kr really does need to step up. I’ve been saying this all year. Reed and goldy need to get on same page. Cuz I believe goldy is a big piece if we are going to make this a season or not. Need his leadership, rebounding, hustle, and spark like we seen
Before. We really don’t get much out of our bench. Not to knock the kid at all. But saw a video Breeland Moore did on jj Davis. How he went to team manager to walk on. Story was interesting. High school coach even said jj is a div 3 player. Reed liked jj how he was reliable and live being around the team. Walked on. Due to needing bodies. Check the video out. Pretty cool. Follow Breeland Moore on Twitter.January 12, 2016 at 7:51 pm #24805Already do. Breland does a fine job for Service.
Watching JG last night,he looks OK. Why only 10 mins? There must be something keeping him glued to the bench. Whatever it is,is hurting this team. If it is fixablewe need him for double those mins.January 12, 2016 at 7:54 pm #24806If halves were 10 minutes long we’d have the best team in the PL. I don’t know if it’s a bench issue or a conditioning issue, point is they need to clamp down in the mid- and late- game on defense. Bucknell simply wore Lehigh out, and I’m sure that’s exactly what every opposing coach is going to try to do to Lehigh – pick up the pace and exchange baskets, because Lehigh won’t be able to keep up.

Ironically this was the 3rd slowest-paced game BU has played this year. Only the American and PSU games had fewer possessions.
January 13, 2016 at 12:56 am #24809I echo the concerns of those who have gone before (i.e., where have KR, AP and JG gone, short bench, injuries, etc., etc., etc.) and add simply my concern over what I saw as LU’s most unimaginative offensive display of the season. At times it appeared we had never seen a matchup zone.
Anyway, Bucky has tons of weapons and is good…very good. They entered the game having put down their first four PL opponents by an average winning margin of 20.8 points. Hey, we lost by 6 and came back from being down by 16 to bring it to one. Biggest sin: 5 for 17 from beyond the arc. Bucky was a cool 11 for 22. That’s an 18 point differential in just the 3’s. Oddly enough, our total FG attempts were the same at 55.
Anyway, the excitement is still there for me. Anyone up for a road trip to Bucknell on Wednesday, 2/10/16?
Playoffs being on Tuesday, 3/1/16……let’s hope ours start two days later on 3/3
January 13, 2016 at 1:02 am #24810My gut,wr’ll win out there. AP will hit for 24 and KR 11 Assists. JG plays 16 mins.
January 13, 2016 at 2:46 am #24812Quick question from a non-expert eye; did we switch to zone last four or five minutes of the first half? If so, were we gassed and had to do that? Or just strategy? That seemed to be when things came unglued.
January 15, 2016 at 1:39 pm #24845I see a good bit of optimism about our upcoming schedule – which leads me to play devil’s advocate a bit. The only 2 things that seem to be clear so far in the PL, to me, are that Bucknell is alone in a top tier, and it looks like American is alone in a bottom tier. Everyone in the middle appears to be a big muddle. Navy is the biggest unknown to me – and I haven’t watched them play yet. Their record is very good, and their only PL loss is to Bucknell. On paper, they look like a clear #2. I’m gonna reserve judgment until I see more. BU looked, on paper, like top-tier PL team, but that bubble has burst. Army has proven to be pretty average so far. Will Navy show that they are for real, or fall back like those other two?
Regarding our next 3 games – I think the most likely outcome is 1-2, and 2-1 would be a very good outcome. Until shown otherwise, I think we need to expect to drop our game to Navy. Cross and ‘pards are right in the muddle with us, and we play them both on the road.
For what it’s worth, KenPom projects all 3 as losses when viewed independently. -
