LU finished at #18 in final Athlon Power Poll. Good starting point for next season.

That feels like an appropriate final ranking. I think we could be top 12-15 next year. Not sure it would be reasonable to think we’d be higher. OOC schedule is very weak in aggregate so there won’t be room for error in conference play.

I had them #19 in my final AGS poll. The performance against UNH was horrific but the body of work was still impressive.

The defense still needs to improve a good amount if they want to take the next step nationally. The offense will be very good. Lehigh is loaded at the skill position and the return of the 5th year guys on the OL should make for a dominant unit. Folmar will have to tweak it a bit with Mays skill set vs Shanfnisky’s. I know Mays played last year but against better defenses those passing lanes aren’t as big.

The expectation needs to be to defeat Villanova. The Wildcats will be tough but they’ll also be breaking in a new coaching staff and several new faces on defense. That’s a game the Mountain Hawks need to win given the mediocre OOC schedule and the fact it’s at home. If the defense improves I think a Top 10 team is possible. Otherwise they better plan on scoring 40 a game again.

Easy to be optimistic, which I am — especially since a buddy of mine celebrated with his alma mater in Frisco.

But I keep wondering how the LB crew will be. Will guys step in and up? They always seem to …

And who will be the backup QB? Is there a running QB in the mix?

LBs are our ooen issue for next year. Staff seems confidant in returners. So I will be also. At least for now :)
Will Kauffman go for a 5th?
DL depth an issue. Roberts does not rotate his line to any great extent. Will Mitchell go for a 5th?
