Stream of that interview is here:

    Fox 26 KNPN

You’ll have to scroll back, but luckily the news shows the time on-screen. Caleb’s piece is at 5:03 on their clock.

List is up-to-date. A few more “scratches”, but happy with our status overall. Get me one athletic forward, and I’m good for this class…

Look like two good players. My only concern from limited video is neither appear to be big time shooters, especially from 3. First guy (Bennett) looks like an athletic slasher and scorer off bounce. Question if he can finish against bigger players at 6’4″. Looks like decent vertical. Second guy (Wilson) looks like primarily a PG, a big PG, not overly quick or athletic, but really long. Both look like they can pass and distribute. With AP graduating, we will need some 3pt shooters.

And, I’m terrified about trying to fill TK’s shoes next season at the 5. We seem really thin there with players. We have a lot of bodies, but not sure any can play.

The problem with highlight viveos and how they are edited.
Post TK guessing we will be a much more G oriented team.
Other than offers, I have no idea how premium these recruits are or aren’t. Good 3 shooters? No clue. Andree Lieb and Sedore are tho :). Dont know whether that is a plus.

Looks like Bennett shot 40% from 3 last year – pretty solid. Granted, that’s the high school 3pt line, but still. The numbers at MaxPreps often seem to be incomplete, but for the data they’ve got he appears to have taken 107 3s of 295 FGAs. Seems like it is part of his game.

I’ll look for similar info on Wilson later today.

The stats for both player are on page 1 of this thread. Both Bennett and Wilson were 40% 3 pt shooters last season.

Bennett was 43 of 107 and Wilson was 34 of 85. Statistically they are very similar. I’m looking forward to following their senior seasons.

Thanks guys, didn’t see those stats. In the current college game, the 3 is just enormous. So, at least both are capable. Figuring they played about 25 games last year. 3-4 attempts per game each.

I don’t have stats handy but I think that this team is loaded from the 3 pt line. Besides AP for one more year, I think KL shot 44% from the 3 last season. KR raised his average to about 38% (same as Price). PA may be the best outside shooter coming out of NJ. LT and JC were both very dangerous shooters in HS. The bigger problem may be having enough basketballs to go around.

When I think of 3 point shooters, I’m looking not just at % made but also attempts. Only guy we have who is a volume long range shooter is AP. He had 179 attempts last year. KL and KR are adequate shooters but that isn’t their primary focus. KL had about 100 attempts and KR way less than that. If you have a post guy, like we do this year, in TK, who can command a double team, you need specialists outside the arc who can knock down a lot of 3’s. I think in recent history of a guy like Bryson Johnson with Muscala. He was more of a specialist, but was taking around 200 triples a year and that opens up space for your offense to operate. I am not sure once AP leaves, if we have that on roster. A zone buster from deep. May not be as critical once TK goes, if we don’t have a scoring post, but nice to have. Maybe Andree is that guy. But, I don’t see him getting a ton of minutes early on, as he is going to struggle with athleticism and defense early on, in my opinion.

A couple of observations I was not aware of….
1.)At .392, Lehigh ws tied for 14th in the country in 3 pt shooting %. Price actually brought our average down.

2.)Lance Tejada may be your next AP. During his vaunted senior year in HS, Lance attempted 198 3s (made 73 or 37%) as compared to 166 2s (made 84 or 51%). Like AP, he tended to be somewhat streaky but when he was hot, he could carry the team.

Unlike AP though, I think he started off his career at ECU streaky bad which cut his minutes. Note well over 50% of his attempts were 3s.

Been away for awhile – few thoughts:

    1) Tejada is sitting out this year correct? Excited about his potential in 2017-18 but would put more weight in his college shooting than high school.

    2) Not sure where the Sedore and Lieb as shooters narrative comes from. Especially with Sedore there is virtually no video and very little written about his game. Could be true that they are shooters, I’m just not sure how anyone could know at this point.

    3) Bennett played in the Under Armour Association summer circuit against very good comp. They keep good stats as well. Looks like he shot 20-61 (35%) over 13 games against competition likely significantly better than high school. Not bad, especially when considering his athleticism on video.

Anybody have thoughts on a starting 5 for this season?

You know, obviously, we have 3 givens (KR, AP, TK), but other spots interesting. I would think KL gets one spot. And, I would like to see BA in the other spot. Small lineup, but not sure we have a lot of options. It would be nice to see MH secure a starting spot, but a big ask for a guy who didn’t play last year. What I am hoping is that DC is not a starter. But, history tells me he might be.

    3 givens.
Would like to see KL and MH. MH gives a better scoring option at SF plus he rebounds. Small lineup is a nice match up option depending on who we are playing.
I like DC coming off the bench for 5-6 minute shots.
Have no idea what to expect from CS Andree or Lieb.
