Anyone know what the contract situation is for Coen?  Are we at risk of him leaving with the past few succesful seasons?  Seems like the last 2 coaches – Lembo and Higgins stayed for 4-6 years, and left after establishing a winning tradition at LU.

If I recall they did his contract before 2010. I would be more concerned with Dave. If Andy leaves, Dave will get job. Our concern is if both move on.

Anyone know if any of the football coaching slots are endowed?

To answer sundayamqb, the football head coach position is endowed at about 1.5M.  I believe it was done 12 years ago. Secondly though, I believe I read somewhere that all Lehigh coaching positions are on a year to year basis. I am not absolutely certain about that though.

Not sure on contract length but his original K was fo r 5 yrs, if I recall. Definitely more than 1 yr. Now no idea. Wonder how raises are figured into endowment.

Yes, Andy came here with a five year contract. Upon renewal in 2010 I am not sure how long the extension was, but doubt it was more than two, and may be on a year to year renewal at this point. But that is just speculation. At our level, we are almost always in the situation of having coaches move on, unless they are happy to remain at this level. Lembo was always a ‘man looking to  move up’ and has clearly shown that.  However, you have coaches that have remained at FCS level schools for many years–Tavani at Lafayette, Laycock at William & Mary, Raymond when he was at Delaware, Ford at Albany.  It all comes down to what the person is ultimately looking for. I always feel for coaches families, for they live a vagabond life, with many moving every two to three years as they try and climb the ladder to the “big time.”

Andy seems comfortable here, but there is always the offer you can’t refuse.

Yes, I agree. I think it would have to be a very good offer and security, but one never knows.
