The Raiders will see a far different team in Lehigh than the one they first witnessed back on December 31th – a team that is 8-3 over their last 11 and coming off their best game of the year against the league’s pace-setter, Bucknell. A team that seems “pumped” and one that – dare I say – believes in itself and its play-making abilities. Over that same 8-week stretch of time, Colgate has seemingly been unable to get on a roll going 6-5 with losses to: Loyola, Navy, Holy Cross, Lafayette, and Army. And, two of those L’s have come at home…by 1 to Navy and by 5 to Lafayette. Back on New Year’s Eve, you may recall that we allowed Colgate to go 26 for 45 (.578) and connect on 10 three-pointers. What’s more, we lost the rebounding battle 34-26. I sincerely doubt you’ll see such a performance again out of our Defense. Ever bettering stats over the last eight weeks would seem to bear me out on that. At least, as a fan, I’m hoping to see such a reversal of fortunes and a team riding a high into the playoffs after a well-deserved 4 day of rest .
Playoff Scenarios
In short, we’re the #3 seed and will play either: Lafayette, Loyola, American or Navy in quarter-final action next Thursday at Stabler

February 27, 2015 at 7:59 pm #18757I absolutely agree with you LU65. I was at the 1st Colgate game and our perimeter defense was absolutely terrible. It should be MUCH improved this time. My biggest concern is that we must play this one up there.
February 27, 2015 at 8:22 pm #18758and if seeds hold we play them again soon!
February 28, 2015 at 2:48 am #18761Thks for the guffaw todd. Monlogue capped it.
February 28, 2015 at 2:53 am #18762Buddies and I, back in the day, tailgated a ‘gate hoops game. We were the ONLY knuckleheads in the lot – cold and rainy. We were wearing garbage bags for ponchos because we were totally unprepared – and were chanting “we make holes in teeth!” at the ‘gate bus that rolled into the lot. The good (bad?) old days…
February 28, 2015 at 12:19 pm #18767Also today, Bucknell at American. They need to win that, or Lehigh to beat ‘gate to have the top seed as they lost twice to the Red Raiders of the Chenango Valley. For some reason the folks on their forum (whom I consider among the most informed, even minded posters in the league) seem to think we have nothing to play for in this one as we’re locked at #3. I couldn’t disagree more. Whether we play well or not I gotta believe we want this one as bad as any this year. The Lafayette game still has to sting if you’re on the team, and the first Colgate game isn’t a fond memory either. Gotta believe we have something to prove in this one. Particularly on the road.
February 28, 2015 at 3:03 pm #18769Strongly agreed! If nothing else, I think the game is important for momentum and confidence going into the tourney.
February 28, 2015 at 4:37 pm #18770not to mention that we would meet Gate in semis if seeds hold
February 28, 2015 at 5:53 pm #18772Well, that 1st half reminded me a whole lot of the first time we played them. They buried threes in bushels. I believe we fell behind by 24 before going on a 19-1 run near the end of the game. Live by the 3, die by the 3. Hopefully, they lose some accuracy on tired legs. That’s the optimist in me talking.
February 28, 2015 at 7:09 pm #18775gotta hand it to Gate, they shot a high % in first half and not due to our D which was pretty solid
February 28, 2015 at 7:14 pm #18776We didn’t play badly, not good enough but not badly. D was fairly solid. Gate 3s were a killer. Gotta hope ,if we meet again they are not so hot from long range. We still left a lot of points on the court.
February 28, 2015 at 7:28 pm #18777Seems the NC snow-pocalypse wasn’t done with me yet. Cable went out with 3 minutes left in first half; TV, internet, everything. Just got it back.
Was our offense and shooting really ugly in the second half? Or did the game just slow WAY down?February 28, 2015 at 8:43 pm #18778toddcudd,
Both…Colgate really took the air out of the ball in the 2nd half and frankly we did not shoot it very well. There were a lot of chances to get back in the game but we let them all go by. 4 players scored all but 2 of our points. Kr only had 1 assist. Gate certainly took advantage of our zone. Yes, they shot the ball well but they were all open shots. I was juggling some jobs while watching but I didn’t see a whole lot of competent penetration by Colgate. I would prefer our defenders on the ball.
Colgate shot 54.5% from the 3 and 33% inside the paint. 30 of their 42 1st half points were outside the arc. I hope we learn from the experience.February 28, 2015 at 9:43 pm #18779not sure our guys can play much better, if we meet them again better hope they are not as sharp
