Sorry for the duplicate post, but better to start a new discussion on Colgate:
Lehigh’s going to have to spend a whole lot more time on offense next week, keeping Colgate off the field. Last time McCord played against Lehigh was in 2009 (as, yes, a sophomore — he did not play in 2010) and he gained 159 yards on 32 carries in a 27-20 Colgate win at Hamilton.
Sure, LU and Colgate are different teams and they’re playing in Bethlehem, but this could be a game for the ages.
When’s the last time there were two such high-powered offenses paired up in the PL with everything at stake? It’s been a while.
LU total offense: No. 39; Colvin No. 8.
Colgate total offense: No. 3; McCarney No. 9.
Colgate’s McCord No. 4 in rushing; McCarney No. 3 in passing efficiency (Colvin No. 28))
November 4, 2012 at 8:29 pm #7728IMHO, this has the makings of the famous Lehigh-Holy Cross game from 15-20 years ago.
3 weeks ago we played the team with the worst offense and best defense in the Patriot League and there were 61 points scored. Imagine playing the team with the best offense and worst defense in the Patriot League.
November 7, 2012 at 4:53 pm #7765Notes up.
Ryan and Haggins starting. Moore start at RT again.
Loughery back at LB.
Healthiest we’ve been in a while. Good we’re going in w all. No excuses.
Gate’s stats are awesome on both O and D. Scary. Of course D stats are only scary for Raiders.November 7, 2012 at 10:39 pm #7772Gate pass defense stats are not too bad.
November 8, 2012 at 10:47 am #7785Based on our consistently inconsistent play all year I fear this is when our house of cards of an undefeated season falls apart. I hope I’m completely wrong but the Red Raiders have momentum and we’ve been very skiddish. Just a gut feeling.
November 10, 2012 at 9:03 pm #7846Surprise, surprise.
Lehigh outplayed AND outcoached. Colgate played great, particularly on D.
Biddle said it was was the best win of his career. I’d have put an even line on the game beforehand if I were a bookie.
LU defense put up an incredibly valiant effort — perhaps best game of the season against by far the best offense it saw.
What would have happened had there been no onside kick?
Have other teams finally caught on to Cecc’s play calling? How were we not able to run against these guys? Way too many mental mistakes. Colvin seemed to think he was invincible. Too many dropped passes (and that one INT) from a crew that has been almost perfect all year.
Good to see Peery’s kick …
At least it was a good game to watch … and exciting … CBSSN announcers outstanding, as was overall quality of broadcast. Todd Christensen very knowledgeable.
Next week’s shaping up to be a close game. My guess is LU will be out to prove something, especially if they think they have a chance at an extra week of play.
Today’s outcome was too bad, but it’s been a good run.
What are the chances of getting a playoff nod now?
November 10, 2012 at 9:20 pm #7847Sad and perplexed. D was great. Effort wasted by offense. We stopped running. Why? Mike not great but loss not on him. Dave’s calls made Gate D look like the Chicago Bears. Not one sustained drive all day. He left D on field the entire 2 nd half and most of 2 nd period. Idiotic. Soto drops hurt but roughing K and the onside kick were difference as it turns out. Like that Andy went for throat but play has to work.
No matter how you figure it , offense shut out in 2nd half by bad D. Up 21-7, we s/n lose.
Said all along we had to be error free to win. We weren’t.
On to zPardsNovember 10, 2012 at 11:23 pm #7848Have to disagree with Rich on Colvin, thought he was terrible today. Very inaccurate throws, more than normal. He was saved by some great efforts by receivers several times.
None-the-less, we still should have won. Poor decision by Gaul roughing the punter. Bonehead call on the on-side kick when we had momentum and a good lead. Andrews burned badly on a pump fake. Terrible over throw by Colvin. And if I never see them line up in an I formation it will be too soon.
D just worn out in second half, seemed like O never even made a first down until late.
November 10, 2012 at 11:32 pm #7849Mike lukewarm not terrible. Couple of throws into double, bad overthrow, also at least 3 drops. No throws to Haggins. Play calls bewildering. Why are we so rarely ready to start 2 nd half? Gate a damn fine team but we losr this game pretty much all by ourselves. I will never get over onside kick call.
