It is always great to beat the Maroon/Colgate Red Raiders!
This was a much better team effort although sullied with some fumbles and errors that will be good to avoid next week.
Pelletier is a terrific talent – the real deal and a superb talent. Sodeke has really surprised and broken out – what fun to watch this young man make become such a strong runner. The defense has show solid improvement and the sacks won the game for us.
Congrats to the Seniors!!!
November 16, 2014 at 12:29 am #16699Definitely more bright spots than games past. Nick has taken some criticism in this board for throwing ducks, lack of arm strength, etc. But I think he made some more throws with a little more authority and zip. The opening drive was the first of the year where Folmar finally built Nick’s confidence w an opening series of short throws, play action. Pelletier is going to be fun to watch. We did go to the well a little too often w jet sweep, though. Very happy for Soedeke, playing like a senior, exceeding many folks’ expectations.
Defense made more plays, more stops, but we were going against a one dimensional ‘Gate team, with a frosh Qb. Laub played his tail off at OLB. Rigaud finally made a good play on the ball late in endzone, but on a whole, our consistently terrible secondary play nearly gave away the game. These guys have collectively been out of position all year, and when in the neighborhood of decent coverage, continue to make such poor plays on the ball u would swear these guys never played DB before. And this has been all year. Thats not coaching, thats talent, unless the coaches dont drill them on it daily (which I doubt).
Now—on to 150. Frankasourous was watching i am sure, is he smart enuff to game plan to attack our secondary? Does he have the horses? I like us going in to this one.
Anybody watch JMU/Richmond? Those Dukes are playing damn well. What coulda been…
November 16, 2014 at 2:16 am #16700A microcosm of the season. Tried to give the game away only this time the ‘gaters were just at error prone. The personal foul calls are inexuseable and reflect a lack of discipline that is troubling. It can cost us dearly, and has already earlier this year. We have a lot of nice physical talent, but the mental aspect of the game has not been mastered, yet. Nice to get the win and build some momentum for next week and, hopefully, beyond. Maybe, just maybe, this will be a repeat of 1997 when we entered the L-L at 3-7, as did the Spotted Putendums, and Stambaugh as a freshman led the way not only to a great win, but a string of years that was the best in Lehigh history. Go Lehigh!
November 16, 2014 at 2:31 am #16703Doc, our DBs have played this same coverage for a few years.Back to the ball and try to read the WRs eyes. If you remember, Lafayette took advantage of that 2 years ago for early TDs, and even last season(but I swear it was offensive PI) in the end zone. I do not think it is talent(5-6 corners over the past 3 years)but a coaching blunder. They all do it,so I’m assuming it is taught. Great win.
November 16, 2014 at 3:04 am #16704Nice to get a W (especially for seniors); Nick had some great numbers; Sodeke had nice KR; Laub had great game, and other good stuff, but second half not much to write home about. Will have to be better next week.
I did not see Cornell QB, but Gate’s — despite some poise — seemed pretty shaky (despite some key completions), not one of best of the year. I liked their big RB.
Got a W after kicker with the strangest setup I’ve ever seen — two hands across his face — somehow missed a game-tying FG.
You folks all hit the nail on the head.
Hopefully this game was a learning experience, as much as next week will be.
November 16, 2014 at 4:05 am #16707Glad we won! Our DB’s are well….our DB’s. Glad gate didn’t have confidence in their qb early or they could’ve won. Just throw the ball against us and you win. Sodeke n Laub had monster games, without them we lose. Great win for the seniors. Hopefully next week will be even better. I’ll be at the game! Look for me Cobbler…..I’ll be the guy with the Lehigh shirt on….LOL!

November 16, 2014 at 3:55 pm #16710A win. Always a good thing and no injuries.Yet again we dont keep it going for 60 minutes.Gate at best a work in progress. With a shaky frosh QB,a bad team with some talent. Description fits us to a T.2ndary made a bunch of good plays and then went south for a long stretch.
Then came back in clutch time.
Shaf had his best game. Pelletier just keeps impressing. On D,Laub had best game he’s had in a while. Ripanti and Lambert came thru with clutch plays.
Pards are not in any better shape.150 likely to be an exciting game. Team with the fewest WTF plays will win.November 16, 2014 at 9:13 pm #16713I hoping I’m wrong about this but I don’t have a good feeling about #150. Drew Reed impressed the hell out of me last year. He is very good passer and a competent runner as well. With our porous secondary, unless we can really crank up the pass rush, we could be in for a long afternoon.
November 16, 2014 at 9:19 pm #16715Not clear that Reed will play. Pards on paper a bit better than us but that wont mean much on Sat.
