AnonymousIt is hard to believe that a team that has done so well still does not get the support from the higher-ups. Okay 400 miles is the magical Mason Dixon line for Lehigh to fly or bus. NH IS 380 MILES AWAY. REALLY??? I think Lehigh needs to figure out if they want to be a REAL football school or a team that is like Georgetown. We want top recruits to come to our school. Why don’t we pony up??? Look at our stadium with no lights and terrible locker rooms. We earn a playoff birth and this supposed Academic school makes the kids travel on a bus for 9 hours. THATS AWFUL!!!The players get practically zero bonus clothes like warm ups, cleats, shorts, practice shirts. Lehigh cannot understand why they lose out on top recruits…I think the truth is, football is just a big expense. We sure as hell saved money on losing the bid. Why don’t they spend a little on the kids and show some gratitude…ITS SIMPLY AWFUL!!!
November 22, 2016 at 6:45 pm #295599 hours?….are they going by way of Chicago?
Whether you like it or not….football is not a revenue source. It is in fact an enormous net expense for this University. What it does provide is alumni engagement and advertising to the University. I am not privy to the internal accounting of what the University does and does not provide but we do pretty well IMHO for a private school of our size. I’m also pretty sure we have lost virtually no recruits based on swag and if we did, they are going to school for all the wrong reasons.
Ironically, I remember when Rutgers refused to fund a hotel room for 1 night for wrestling when there was a prediction for significant snow.
Just wondering, who pays for all of those big rings? I honestly don’t know.November 22, 2016 at 10:15 pm #29567I’m with you gameon. But they do get all the stuff you said they didn’t as far as clothes. Some training shoes would be nice! LU has a 1 billion dollar endowment. They could do more for the kids. Hey 9 different uni combos is swag!
November 23, 2016 at 12:29 am #29570Andy Cohen rumored to be in the running for the Notre Dame job. Brian Kelly is a dead man walking.

November 23, 2016 at 1:35 am #29578It should take them around 6 hours to bus to Durham, NH.
If you fly, you’re talking 60 minutes bus to Philly, arrive 90 minutes early at the airport, 75 minute flight to Manchester, 30 minutes to deplane and get on another bus, and then 45 minutes to Durham. That’s 5 hours if everything goes smoothly. If you think that two buses, two airports, and a plane over 5 hours is easier on the mind/body than 6 hours on a single bus – you’re crazy.
Not to mention all the gear would need to be bussed up anyway. And there are probably more people in Lehigh’s traveling party than there are seats on whatever small plane they fly from Philly to Durham.
Makes no sense.
November 23, 2016 at 1:54 am #29580Funny would be the Frankasaurus in line for ND.
Actually Notre Dame is pretty happy with the last coach the stole from us. Muffy McGraw
When we lost to UNH in ’75, it became obvious in Retrospect that Fred Dunlap had already made a commitment to Colgate. He had said he wasn’t all that psyched about another playoff.
By the way, that year, the regular season Colgate game had generated interest from ABC, with the talk of moving the Game to BSD stadium to utilize the lights.
November 23, 2016 at 2:13 am #29582I went the Lehigh game at Lafayette last weekend. WOW did they make some improvements! It’s still a dump at the bottom of the hill but wow to the rest. Can we start a fundraising program to get a video scoreboard (one just a little larger then Lafayette’s)?
November 23, 2016 at 2:00 pm #29587Any fundraising should be directed towards paying Lafayette to keep Tavani on as coach for 5 more years. Certainly the worst coach in the Patriot League. And yes I know he’s had some success but C’Mon Man.
November 24, 2016 at 3:37 am #29597I feel like Tavani is in the same position Andy was in after the 2014 3-8 season. Short term memory of fans is a killer.
Now Andy is Patriot League Coach of the Year.
Bottom line, you gotta find and secure the talent. Andy has brought in some real talent since scholies were offered in the PL. We should be on a nice run. UNH win will be the icing on a nice season. JMU may catch a streaking team that gives them some fits.November 24, 2016 at 3:16 pm #29601Tavani is 64, for the sake of the program he needs to step down.
November 24, 2016 at 3:29 pm #29603Love beating the ‘Pards in everything from football to checkers, but a non-competitive Lafayette isn’t good for Lehigh or the Patriot League. Here’s hoping their athletic study will get some constructive results.

…but not before Lehigh evens the series. I think we’re within 9 now.
November 25, 2016 at 2:52 pm #29617When I came to Lehigh we were behind in the Series by about 32 games. Now whittled down to 9. Should see us take the lead before I’m done!
November 25, 2016 at 11:28 pm #29624I’m with you. The series imbalance got legs when between 1919 and 1949, Lehigh managed only FOUR wins and a tie against Lafayette. That really put the series firmly into control of them.
We are 42 – 24 since 1950 though.
A good decade will even things; root for Tavani to stay until he is 75.
