I have been surprised and impressed early by an unlikely PL candidate, Colgate. Matt Langel is doing a really nice job there, and turning around a pretty dismal program. I think Lehigh in their first PL game on the road at Colgate on Jan 2, will be lucky to get a win. Colgate off to a 4-4 start, but it is a pretty good start, if you look at the competition. Started with loss at ACC Wake Forest by 11, followed by loss at ACC Syracuse by 19. Other losses were to Big East Georgetown by 6, and a recent close home loss to Fordham by 4. Blowout wins over Cornell, St Francis PA, at Tulane, and Binghamton.

The impressive thing is Langel has turned it around with 3 transfers. Burnatowski, who came from Maine, and was really good last season is the second leading scorer this year. Colgate is being led by Monmouth transfer, Tillotson, who is averaging 15 ppg. Third leading scorer is Ohio U transfer, Jacobs, who is also in double figures. Colgate is no longer the doormat of the PL, and Lehigh will have all they can handle up there in a few weeks time. With @ Colgate, followed by BU at home, on the first weekend of games, Lehigh is going to have to open well to avoid an 0-2 PL start.

Latest Sagarin has Colgate at 134, not bad.
