When will the new expansion or reno of the facilities be complete?????
February 3, 2015 at 12:50 am #18132Really not trying to be a smart arse, but when did they begin? Are we talking practice fields or weight rooms? Except for Grace Hall and maybe the soccer/lacrosse fields, it is hard to spot expansions or renovations. Neither Stabler nor Goodman have had any upgrades less a coat of paint in a long time. School has more money than some small countries, like to see some of put into the primary athletic facilities. However, given the mediocre attendance for basketball, putting money into Stabler might be a waste.
February 3, 2015 at 1:14 am #18133I think LG means the current work on Cundey and the baseball and softball fields. By all acconts the fields are almost done and should be ready to go by opening day. Not sure about cundey
February 3, 2015 at 1:39 am #1813415 is right. And they are impressive. About time bball and sball get some real improvements.
February 3, 2015 at 3:03 am #18136Thanks for the info. Given that softball might be the most consistently good program, it’s good to see that field getting an upgrade. I guess I’ll get to the new softball facility on 9/19 at the Penn game.
Still would like to Goodman upgraded. Hard to believe, but coming up on the 28th season this year. Could use some 21st century renovations.

February 3, 2015 at 8:42 pm #18148Yes i was talking about Cundey in particular. I thought i saw they had started already with the expansion when i was there for a game. Heard it would be done for the start of FB season. Has that been pushed back???? I’m sure that was a recruiting pitch
February 3, 2015 at 9:32 pm #18149I do not think much has happened on the baseball field due to delays in permitting. It is not clear who dropped the ball.
Cundey appears to be making decent progress.
The contractor stalled out on the softball project and never finished the sodding so the field will not be ready for spring. The field lay idle for many weeks with little activity. Again, it is unclear who is responsible away from the contractor who gets much work from Lehigh.
Quite disappointing.February 3, 2015 at 9:57 pm #18150I often wonder how many kids arrive on campus for recruiting visits in…well everything except wrestling and volleyball, excited to be recruited and enjoying the visit, then have to ride over south mountain, and say….Wow, we don’t even play or practice near campus. I’m glad to see some of the upgrades over there, but until $$$$’s are put into Goodman-(video,sound,locker room, etc) some will look elsewhere. The large grass area in front of stadium should be for parents and alumni. Build a new parking lot and make those families feel special. Some may disagree, but if you will not do lights,do the next best thing. The only time that space is utilized is on homecoming with the few tent gatherings.A great place for a football atmosphere, but lacks creativity.
February 3, 2015 at 10:08 pm #18152Very disappointing news. When I was down work was progressing well and it was being promised for opening day.
February 3, 2015 at 11:50 pm #18159To me, the lack of facilities on campus — not the campus annex where Goodman, Cundey, Stabler etc. are — is a downer to all prospective students.
The valley is beautiful, but …
Based on the colleges I’ve seen, Taylor gym is average, at best, for what students expect today for $55,000 a year. It’s not convenient to get over the hill to play a pick up game of lax, soccer, baseball, etc. So people rarely do it.
Sorry, it’s a sore spot with me.
To me, the university ought to take that land it was bequeathed in the valley, consider trading it for land on the south side and consider a master plan that would benefit south side residents, too.
February 4, 2015 at 5:32 pm #18190baseball is progressing
Cundey is progressing
weather is problematic for softballFebruary 4, 2015 at 5:34 pm #18191Hi guids. Good news. Thanks.
February 8, 2015 at 5:07 am #18297Just looked up LU on Wikipedia. According to them LU has over 1 billion endowment. Twice the size of LC. Why are they FB facilities better than ours?
February 8, 2015 at 5:24 am #18298Fishdr is an excellent facility. Kove Goodman but is in dire need of upgrading. As is our student athletic facilities which are woefully inadequate. For Goodman a new scoreboard that you can actually read would be great. Lights. Too expensive, since you would have to light paths and entire area. Hindsight, keeping stadium on campus would have been the best choice. While difficult and certainly more costly.it would have been better for students.Shortsighted,IMO. Per capita, endowment not that substantially higher than Pards.
