True enuf. Thats what Edmunds does to everybody.Big plays a nemesis for sure but by then D was gassed.Doesn’t excuse not stopping him in the 2nd half but it does explain difference from 1st half.

Tackling actually was good as was coverage.

“Tackling and coverage was good”…… Not even sure how to respond to that. Fordham attempted 16 passes, it’s pretty easy to cover wide receivers when their RB has the ball. They had 59 pts and 380 yds rushing but tackling was good……that is just baffling.

I’m with Buck. There are very minimal defensive positives to take away from giving up 60 points. This is the 3rd time this defense has given up 50 points in a game but yet the future seems bright and there is a “plan”? Sorry don’t see it. Maybe it’s me but “learning how to win” may start with keeping the opponent under 50.

I think the tackling was better — but far from perfect. Edmonds does not get 350 on everyone, which is telling. Most of our guys have real issues tackling fast, shifty, strong backs like that.

Our outside LBs had a hard time trying to play him. Some of our DBs — not naming any names — saw Edmonds coming fast, straight at them, only to see the RB blow past.

Ultimately, if LU is to be a national power again, it needs more depth on D — more than two or three guys who can stop Edmonds by themselves before he hits the open field

The lack of depth on D was telling. Tackling great overall,no. Better. Go back over the game, most of what you are complaining about was from mid 3rd on. By then D getting gassed. Backups mostly not reafy for prime time players. Our depth is mostly on the IR.Look carefully at DL . No longer able to fight off blocks. The lack of O while Mayes getting up to speed gutted the D. In a perfect world we would’ve had Lambert and Githens in there and not had to start a 175 lber at Rov and a Frosh at S.The point is D is getting better. We ned Nick and more depth to compete with a top 15 team. Second half we had neither. What we did get is a froshAB showing he will be a stud.

First half D was solid. Turnovers wear out D. Edmunds is NFL talent.
    Understand who “buck” is.

Buck, theres no talking to the LU apologists. They make excuses for everytime we lose. The D is horrible like you said. The 3-3-5 is comical. How many times have a RB went for a career high? We’ve only beat mediocre teams. Thank god we were Penns first game, or we wpuld lose to them right now. Im done with LU. 7-4 is possibly. 6-5, 5-6 is more likely. Pathetic.

Over half of Edmonds’ yardage came on three plays. The defense did a decent job most of the day containing him. But he is such an explosive talent that a mistake results in a gap that leads to a 75 yard TD. Turnovers lost his game, as well as a few dropped passes that would have changed complexion. The track meet we thought might break out did. Without Nick in the third quarter we fell into too big a hole, yet almost dug ourselves out. If Casey holds onto that pass with 5-6 minutes to go, it’s a TD and we’re down by one score and the missed FG is never attempted. The team is showing talent, but we are not executing in the clutch, typically a sign of a young team. Still Mayes gained confidence during the game and I loved how he stepped up INTO the pocket. Nice throwing mechanics. The young runners looked good–almost 150 yards without much running in the second half because of circumstances. Yes D left up 52, but 17 were directly set up by turnovers. I had stated on AGS that if we held FU to 35 we would win and if we had played a clean game, we would be celebrating. Yes it was a discouraging loss, but I am tired of seeing nothing but bitching and griping when we are seeing some excellent potential for the future. This season is reminding me of 1997, though I think we can finish with a winning record. 7-4 is realistic. These kids did not quit. They fell back 38-21 at the end of three quarters and fought back to within 10 points with about 5-6 min. to go, with a back up QB seeing his first meaningful action. Quitters would have gotten blown out by 40 points at that point. I feel for some peoples’ dogs who must get kicked every night by people who are losers by day.

Left game disappointed but impressed with the resilience of this team. Optimistic with our progress.LG,buck et al focus on the 3rd period and ignore the 1st half and that the 4th was a 21-21 tie.We can all pick out plays that hurt us,some bad calls, penalties but this game as lost in the 3rd when O couldn’t keep the ball. We lost our QB. By 4 th Mayes settled and led us.

You guys are hilarious. Who have we beat??? Any good team hangs 50 on us. You guys keep making excuses about turnovers, yes they hurtx but its part of the game. How about we actually STOP somebody despite turnovers. Our D has to be giving up about 35-40 pts a game. The 3-3-5 is junk, a good team will run on that all day. Newsflash…Edmonds not first back to crack 200yds on us.A football game is 4 quarters just so you know. You guys are starting to sound like Coen, he has you programmed…the guys are COMPETING their COMPETITIVE….lol!

He had over 400 all purpose yards himself. Can you describe how many yards Edmonds would have had if we didn’t do a decent job containing him? 500, 700, 1000?

The defense was totally incapable of tackling him in space.

There are some positive signs like Mayes who looks like he can stretch the field. However, the defense and turnover margin are killing this team. The offense doesn’t value the ball enough and the defense just doesn’t ball hawk enough to cause TOs.

I have mixed feelings about the latest loss. More a sense of indifference, as I have mostly written off the current Lehigh football program.

Must say, the team effort since Bucknell IS improved. I thought the players went toe-to-toe with Fordham all the way. They certainly weren’t outclassed yesterday. The defense looked to be more ‘into it’ as crazy as that sounds given the score. I saw some good movement, some swarming, and more intensity. The players are giving all they have to offer. I have a hunch there will only be one more loss this season.

We’ve been watching this for more than 50 years, won’t stop. What’s important, the players don’t seem to have drifted-off, just us.

Al Golden will be available shortly, after yesterday not sure he’d be an upgrade but he does know coach-speak.

Sure glad I didn’t drive out to the Bronx for that disaster, well this season is over, on to wrestling.

Feel bad for the seniors, think the coaches are pushing the freshman to hard and they are just not experienced enough.

Dont see as coaches have any choice but to play underclassmen. Senior class not deep in talent. A disappoint ment. Too many penalties, key drops and TOs. 4 of the 5 by frosh.
