Forgive me, but I’m simply stunned at how *small* this incoming class is, especially when you consider the 14 incoming recruits INCLUDE THREE TRANSFERS, one JuCo QB and two former Hofstra players.
This doesn’t even cover their senior losses! By my count, there are 21 graduating seniors. I doubt seven are going to return for 5th years.
February 5, 2010 at 12:21 am #1585FU HC was quoted on their Board a while back that they would not have a large class of frosh as spots were being saved for transfers????? Saw on Rivals that the kids on their list went to FBS schools. Maybe they aimed too high.
February 7, 2010 at 8:49 pm #1617It’s also possible this reflects the 14-15 full scholarships they are giving each year to get to 60-63 and that any other additions will be financial aid counters.
Even with the scholarships, I’m not sure Fordham has the best class though. Which raises this question: there is an assumption that with scholarships, Fordham eventually takes over the PL as HC did in the late 1980’s. If Fordham doesn’t dominate and stays in that 4th or 5th place standing (with 6th and 7th seemingly in stone of late), does a so-so record keep them in the PL fold or hasten its departure? Or are they already gone after 2012 anyway?
February 8, 2010 at 6:19 pm #1624Absolutely stunning. I can’t believe this is all that Masella has in his arsenal, but… The Rams have already taken a position that will probably settle them in below everyone else in this year’s Patsy Ratings. In addressing the possibility of transfers yet to hit the radar, the Patsy Committee says this in their, as yet, unpublished Fordham rating: "…it is hard to conceive of a bevy of BCS misfits and malcontents descending on mailboxes across America to complete their Fordham paperwork so that they can play in a one-sided stadium in front of 5,000 or so against the likes of Assumption, Bryant and Georgetown."
So far Fordham is making a case that scholarships may not be the way to go.
February 8, 2010 at 6:49 pm #1625Speaking of Patsy Ratings, how will they be published this year?
February 8, 2010 at 6:52 pm #1626There appears to be no concern over this on the Fordham board. Either they know something (but are not expressing it) or it is just another example of how we all drink the Kool Aid when it comes to the home team.

They are ready to go. The Committee has considered releasing it on championshipsubdivision.com, but that is not held in high repute, and is even outright rejected by some (not mentioning any names). There are other options, but the best is LFN’s proposed Patriot League board which is a non-starter at this time.
Actually, bm, you don’t want to know. Here is a peek:
1. Lehigh
2. Lafayette
3. FordhamAnd, it is not close – and I mean really not close – in any way.
February 9, 2010 at 5:42 pm #1634FU’s class has some very good athletes but not overall any better than those the rest of us can bring in. Would think that HC and Gate will have very solid groups with HC taking the patsy crown this year.

If they do, it won’t be by much – and The Committee will be mildly surprised. (Not a hit at the ‘saders, just a statement as to how well the current front runner (see above) has done.) Keep checking championshipsubdivision.com for updates. Lafayette has been posted.
