It’s not just on paper. Up one 12:oo minutes to go. Whether we win or not, it seems we really have something here…..

I agree. I expected us to keep it close in first half then x come away in second. I am very impressed. Solid job by Brett and staff.

Dam good lost if it’s such a thing. If we could’ve gotten some defensive rebounds much different game. Good job fellas! By the way, that last 3 was definitely a foul!

This was an encouraging effort. Trouble defending the paint and keeping them off the boards, but that’s almost to be expected against a team like X.

20 turnovers is way too many and I remember a stretch in the second half with maybe 4 unforced turnovers in 6 possessions. Some really bad ones thrown in. Take care of the ball a little bit better and this is a W.

Overall though, no complaints. A lot of guys played well, including the frosh + Alston. Would have been great to get the W, but hopefully this inspires some confidence and the wins are coming. Would like to see the rotation expand by 1 when Lieb gets healthy.

Yale’s best player is now out for the year (Makai Mason), so that game is now very winnable.

Just saw the score. I don’t follow Lehigh hoops all that closely but this is an impressive performance. Xavier is in that fringe elite territory so to go into the Cintas Center (brutal place to play for the road team) and lose by 3 is an indication of a pretty high ceiling for Lehigh.

I agree with the comments here. First and foremost, awesome to go down to the wire with a top 10 team! And very encouraged by what we saw of Cohen and Andree – two real shooters, for sure! Also agree that BA looked better than we’ve seen before.
A few less ugly turnovers, a few more defensive boards, or a few less defensive lapses early and the outcome might have been different! I really, really liked the trapping press. Seemed to fluster X, and worked well. Nice to be on the good side of that for a change!
Observations – I don’t think X has any post presence, at all. They scored in the paint with big guards driving, primarily. I think they’ll have trouble with big teams. The only way they slowed TK was double and triple teams. We can still do better in reacting to those double-teams to get easy buckets, I think.

    Quick thoughts………

Yeah, we kept it to a single-digits and proved KenPom and everyone else wrong. I’m anxious to see the new national rankings. Ken Pomeroy has already weighted-in, dropping Xavier from 11 to 16 and bumping Lehigh up to 125 from 141.

Stat sheet says it all. Down by 12 early in the game and had a chance to tie at the final buzzer. Don’t’ tell anyone but we actually out-scored Xavier 79-72 over the final 36 + minutes of the game.

Wow, Reed wasn’t kidding when he spoke so highly of Holba, Cohen and Andree in his 11/7 Season Preview. The three combined for 23 on 9 for 12 shooting and logged a combined 53 minutes of playing time. In fact, Holba hasn’t miss yet. Who cares about it being a nationally televised event and the 10,250 enemy fans that packed the Cintas Center. Not bad, when you realize we still haven’t seen Sedore, Leib, and, of course, “walk-on” Wolf – all new to the Lehigh family.

I had to love Sean O’Mara’s (Xavier’s Center) post game comment re: TK. “Man, he’s good.” The NBA scouts in the audience probably agreed.

Just another example of why it’s hard for a power conference team such as Xavier to schedule a far lesser team – on paper anyway. Can you imagine if we had pulled this one out?! It would have dearly cost ($ and otherwise) the vaunted Musketeers. Villanova, Syracuse and now Xavier over the past three years. Who risks getting us, albeit without TK, next year? Thanks again Coach and Staff for scheduling this game.

I don’t know AMERICAN X (Senior Moderator/Xavier Message Board), but I like his thinking. Here’s what he had to say following the game, “Lehigh and Kempton have tournament upset written all over them.”

I asked about a post-game interview – no dice. Didn’t have video with them on the trip. 😞
