Sorry no game preview. I find myself out at Pebble Beach (awesome golf tourney) and now gearing up for a 4 o’clock (pacific) game. I see that KenPom has us winning by 11 and that sounds right if we’re not looking ahead to Navy. Fully expect Reed and TK to keep the pressure on the team to play inspired ball. But, after watching 50 years of Lehigh basketball, nothing is for certain. A win puts us a game out with all eyes then on Navy (wed) and what could be the most important game of the year up at Colgate (next to last of the tear), knowing that The Raiders own a sweep over Bucknell. Many, many podibilities. First, let’s attend to matters this eveninh. Look forward to everyone’s comments after the fame.
February 16, 2016 at 1:26 am #25508one ugly half of basketball
February 16, 2016 at 1:51 am #25509Dreadful performance so far.
February 16, 2016 at 2:06 am #25510cross D playing tough but our guys look to be asleep, not the same team I have watched for the past few weeks
February 16, 2016 at 2:33 am #25511Wow. Big sigh of relief. HC silly hot last minute
Coach gets all the credit tonight. Switches defense to zone and throws basically a shutout for 6-7 minutes down the stretch. I’ve been critical of his in game coaching and his reluctance to play zone, but great job tonight. Nice performances by KR, AP and TK in second half. Helped that HC missed all of those free throws.
One back.
February 16, 2016 at 2:59 am #25512Win is a win. To me, nothing looked overly concerning moving forward. Nothing fell in the first half. HC was hot from three before the zone. Team showed toughness and didn’t quit. Could have very easily given up with only 41 points and 5 minutes to go
February 16, 2016 at 3:11 am #25513Ugly. Real ugly. But I’ll take it. I wasn’t shocked we came out flat. But didn’t think we would be that bad. But I agree. Docs switch was the key. I missed the fire Tim was brining over the past month or so. He seemed bothered by something. Did better and was more vocal in second half. Biggest game of the year is this wed
February 16, 2016 at 3:21 am #25514Ok can we now stop hating on DOC for not being able to make in- game adjustments!!
February 16, 2016 at 3:36 am #25515I think doc has done a great job over the past two months. I just don’t know how of such a high and a brief rest. We came out flat. No energy. That
Concerns me. But we won. That’s all that mattersFebruary 16, 2016 at 3:40 am #25516First time I can recall a big coaching game by Reed in 9 seasons. I wouldn’t get too carried away. He certainly out coached a good tactician in Carmody. What the hell was Carmody doing in last 8 minutes? Lehigh switches defense to zone, you have shooters (shot 50% from 3 to that point), Lehigh go on 15-0 run and no time outs by Carmody to settle his crew or run a set play against the zone. Really poor job by Carmody, but, in fairness, he didn’t miss the 5 FT’s. Carmody looked bored and disinterested. Guy used to have a lot of fire.
For those in arena, was there anybody there? Looked like under 300 people on TV. We are now drawing less than local middle schools. Weather a factor?
February 16, 2016 at 3:46 am #25517Classes, some other events canceled due to weather.
I turned on w/40 seconds left. Sweated out the double miss by — I think it was AP.
February 16, 2016 at 4:01 am #25518This was not going to be a big crowd to begin with. Box lists 710 paid. We didn’t have that in the building, but the weather was really bad and potentially dangerous. 22 degrees and rain, with heavy icing on the way. I went, but those who stayed home were the smart ones. If it looked ugly on TV, it was worse in person. But I’m thrilled. We were down late and experiencing the let down game you knew would come sooner or later. And got it done at the end.
And I agree Doc coached a very good game. Zone changed their tempo just enough. I think he’s been considerably better in game all year, and may have turned the corner, finally. Early this season someone here posted that in light of the key injuries and thin bench, it would take a great coaching job to have a positive season. I’m hoping.
February 16, 2016 at 5:03 am #25519Yes there wasn’t big crowd but there was more then I expected. Glad whoever went got home safe
February 16, 2016 at 3:21 pm #25524Student busses got cancelled so attendance was way down (more than usual). I image just about anyone who showed up got a tee-shirt, or got to play ‘dizzy checkers’ or blindfolded foul shots ..
So many empty possessions, so many turnovers. TK seemed to be playing with oven mits at times. KL couldn’t buy a bucket; lots of easy looks that just wouldn’t go down.
We are lucky to get the win. I just wish we were more efficient and took care that nearly every possession winds up in the hands of TK, AP, KL or KR. Austin Price saved the game for us – what a beautiful, efficient stroke he has. And really crafty on a drive to the hoop …
February 16, 2016 at 4:49 pm #25525That game was no work of art – but I’m gonna stick with my rose-colored glasses. A night where we really struggled on O, but won anyway. No points from TK or KL in the first half, and shots weren’t falling. But we went into the half down by just one.
Another good scoring night from KR, great bounce-back by TK in the 2nd half, and AP was a ROCK again. A while back, we were really begging for consistency, and AP has really delivered that in league play. Someone here made the connection between AP’s output and our results recently. Check this out: since the turn of the year, we’re 9-0 when AP scores 10+, and we’re 0-4 when he doesn’t. That’s a pretty strong link! -
