Commentary
It doesn’t get any easier, does it? Yale, picked by many to battle Princeton for the Ivy title this year, ventures into Stabler on Thursday after dispatching – with relative ease – both Fairfield and Sacred Heart. While each is a 200+ ranked club, the beatings were significant. The Bulldogs outscored and out-rebounded the two with relative ease posting combined totals of 169-134 (points) and 82-56 (boards). Perhaps most significant, however, are the Turnover and Points-off Turnover numbers for Yale. There the margins were sizable and in favor of the team from New Haven with 35 forced TOs resulting in 51 points. We can expect to see Coach Jones trot-out an experience lineup of 4 seniors and one sophomore. So experience, it ranks 16th in the nation. The second year man is Guard, Makia Mason who is picking up right where he left off in his freshman campaign which ended with his Ivy League Rookie of the Year Award. If there was one guy to keep your eye on Thursday it would be #11, Mason. He’s averaging 22ppg on .500 shooting, while collecting 7 boards and dishing-out 9 helpers.
FYI………….
UVA lost to 53rd ranked George Washington 68-73 on Monday after destroying Morgan State in their home opener. They take on Bradley this Thursday before welcoming us in on Thanksgiving Eve.
Purdue is 2 and 0 after destroying NC A&T and Vermont. We face the Boilermakers one week from Saturday.
Still looking for their first OOC win, besides Lehigh, are: 0-2 Navy, 0-2 Loyola, and 0-1 American
November 18, 2015 at 2:48 am #23829Sorry. ….failed to mention, KenPm sees us beating Yale 71-69.
November 18, 2015 at 3:07 am #23831Guess Ken figuring JG will be more mobile by Yale.
November 18, 2015 at 3:25 am #23832I’ll be there. Can’t wait. Gotta stay out of foul trouble. Would love Brett to reward Kyle with a start. He played very well. Why not give it a look. This game still scares me tho.
November 18, 2015 at 10:41 am #23839With our injuries and MS tranfer, the whole schedule (OOC & PL) scares me.
November 18, 2015 at 2:29 pm #23841I don’t believe there’s any such thing as a “must-win” for us at this time of year. However, this should be a very good barometer. Yale looks very good, and their ratings reflect that. We’re favored strictly due to being at home.
I just REALLY hope that our crowd can provide a true home court advantage. Wish I lived closer.November 18, 2015 at 2:53 pm #23842There probably won’t be any energy in stabler. There never is. I blame Lehigh. The whole in game set up is weak. No music during starting lineups. No pump me up music during timeouts or anything. It’s really sad. Went to laf game vs Lehigh in Easton last year. Totally diff scene then stabler. It’s actually sad.

Couldn’t agree more, and I would add the preseason expectations on top.
November 19, 2015 at 5:27 pm #23869I agree, bit of a big game. Gotta get a win. Also, agree would like to see KL as a starter, and attendance will be weak. Setting over under on bodies at 1,200.
I think a key figure for me right now is ppg for KR. He needs to score the ball for us to have success. Need a 3rd scorer behind TK and AP. A guy like JC can step up once in awhile, but can’t do it consistently. I like our chances when he scores 12-15 per game. Didn’t work vs. Canisius (14 in Loss), but he was much more active than the Syracuse loss.
November 20, 2015 at 2:00 am #23881So there’s our answer. 3rd or 4th in PL, unless MH gets healthy and things change. Mediocre low-mid team.
November 20, 2015 at 2:07 am #23882Holba will make all the difference, but no need to panic now, a long way to go! Yale shot the lights out of the ball!
November 20, 2015 at 2:09 am #23883And we couldnt make 3s
November 20, 2015 at 2:28 am #23884Sears is very good at MM level, but couldn’t get a high-major offer. Made us look helpless. Back to the ’90s, I’m afraid. The CJ effect was fun, while it lasted.
AP was fantastic tonight. Problem is, if you’re a generally mediocre low-mid team, one guy getting hot doesn’t do it. We’ve seen that repeatedly now.
A Columbia win would be nice, but not terribly meaningful now.
1.) Bucky
2.) BU
3.) Whoever shows up
4.) Us.November 20, 2015 at 2:35 am #23885I still don’t get why chuku never plays down low. It kills us. 6-8 shooting guard. We are in major trouble. No depth like I been saying. Ross isn’t playing well. Goldy don’t look right. Not good guys
November 20, 2015 at 2:44 am #23886Eh, pretty good low-mid team. St. Francis PA should be a good game. JC doesn’t play down low because we need him to shoot. Which would be cool if we had bigs.
Simply not very good. I do feel for Tim, though. Can’t help but wonder how much he regrets his decision. Same with KR. Clear from his social media that there’s some frustration that Arkansas didn’t offer. If he does well vs. St. Francis, maybe he’ll get his chance… -
