Seldom do you get a chance to watch a game featuring not one but two “John R. Wooden Pre-season Top 50 Award” candidates. We will when the tip comes at 10pm. Their names and numbers follow:Chimezie Metu 6’11” Junior Center….18.3ppg, 8.3rpg
Jordan McLaughlin 6’1” Senior PG….19.7ppg, 5.3rpgThe two will undoubtedly be joined at Center Circle by Bennie Boatwright, a 6’10” Junior Forward who shares the team lead in PPG with Metu at 18.3. He’s also good for 6.7rpg. The three presently combine for 56+ ppg and 20+ rpg. Certainly Karnick, Andree, Porter and Company have never seen anything like this nor will they for a long time to come. How they, and the team around them, withstand the onslaught will be my prime concern and area of focus. Or as Coach Reed might say, “A teaching moment.” As for our backcourt I give Ross, Tejada, Bennett, Wilson and our “hometown” boys, Leufroy and Cohen, every chance to shine based on their quickness, proven ability to protect the ball, and ability to knock down 3’s. Will they get the open looks this game will require? We’ll see?
November 23, 2017 at 12:00 pm #33026bright lights of LA proved to be too much for a couple of the guys with some pretty sad shooting, KR was a delight however as he was looking for his O and responded, JK acquitted himself quite well given what he was up against with no bench support, could have used another center off the bench last night, get well soon JL and/or CS
November 23, 2017 at 5:54 pm #33027KR and LT rose to the spotlight. KL played tough but his shot wasnt there tonight. PA zero rebounds. We desperately need help inside.
November 24, 2017 at 3:22 am #33029Looking for silver linings..? We didn’t get beat by 30. Tejada can play. Karnick apparently played well in among the athletic trees in the 2nd half. Porter coming along maybe. Flight home was on time? Otherwise, lets move along and see what we can do against Pitt.
Oh, and hats off to KR for a great game.
