A Season Ago

2/8/17 @ Lehigh………Lehigh won 79-71The Three
We have two of the hottest long-range shooters in the League wearing the Brown and White in Lance Tajeda and Pat Andree. LT sits atop the League Standings, canning 14 of23 (.609) in his first three games played while PA is 17 of 33 (.505) after his first four. You have to figure they’ll both be featured tomorrow night out in Lewisburg. Andree found Sojka to his liking a year ago hitting 3 of 6 from deep. This will mark Tajeda’s first visit to the Lewisburg arena.Common Opponents

– Kimbal Mackenzie may see a few minutes tomorrow night after missing six weeks due to surgery for an abdominal tear.
– Avi Toomer, who has missed most of the year with a serious stress fracture, remains out.
– Nate Sestina, who returned from a hip injury vs LC but only played a few minutes, is likely to return to a more normal number of minutes.
– SG Matt O’Reilly, who has been bothered by a foot injury all year, is apparently out.
January 11, 2018 at 6:42 pm #33508Limit the effectiveness of Thomas/Foulland/Brown (presently combining for 51 pts/game) and get open looks from “3” (LU tops in PL with 44.7 % of their point coming from beyond the arc) and let the chips fall as they may. It shapes up as a fun/high scoring affair.
Trav, if your onsite we look forward to your comments.

LU hit 34.4% of threes in their 10 D1 OOC games. Now 43.8% in PL games. Has something dramatically changed? Different offense? Different opposing defenses? Sample size?

January 11, 2018 at 7:43 pm #33511Imo, level of competition combined with more open looks.
January 12, 2018 at 2:09 am #33521A very frustrating team. Great D in the qst half. A real battle. Not so much for 1st half of 2nd. Geez. Then the standard intense push to a semi respectable L. Ugh.
Like Sedore’ s baby hook tho. Nice to see him score after so much injury.
On the flip side W game was great
A close game .Ladies , particularly Mann, were clutch at the end. Benz again showed smarts touch and toughness.January 12, 2018 at 2:29 am #33522Was at the game. Started pretty well. Second half came out sluggish again. Lead was over 10 with a blink of eye. Few things. We lost this game because of dumb turnovers and to many missed easy shots. Ross didn’t seem to be happy late in second half. Not sure what was going on but he was moping on bench. Can’t have that from your so called leader who is a senior. Glad to see Sedore with more mins. Going into tonight. I was worried nana was going to eat us alive. Nana had like 12 points and four boards. Maybe one block. Not impressed with the so called patriot league player of year. Who should have put up numbers against a freshman and a kid who hasn’t played basketball in over two years. Not impressed with nana at all. Bucknell is good. But I think we can beat them. I think Boston is better imo
January 12, 2018 at 3:07 am #33523So much for a split. This team isn’t very good. It’s about a .500 PL team, maybe slightly worse.
Established veterans (KL and KR) haven’t elevated their games. Tejada is very streaky. PA is a wing jump shooter and not much else. And, other than JK, the freshmen have been pretty disappointing. JC is a nice player, but he’s a backup PG on a good team. Reality setting in.
January 12, 2018 at 4:28 am #33524Worked late so I didn’t see a bit of the game. Read the box score and saw we took 56 shots. But Bucky had 69!!!
How the **** does that happen?????Well….pretty simple when you give up 20 blessed turnovers! TWENTY!!! E-gad!
January 12, 2018 at 5:04 am #33525Ross has ZERO (0) assists? Really…this has to be a first or darn close!
January 12, 2018 at 5:08 am #33527If u state back to my posts prior to season. One of my concerns was who was going to step up and be the leader. People right away said Ross. I didn’t back then and don’t see it now. Ross is not a leader. Some people Judy don’t have it in them. I was hoping Kyle was going to take that role. Remains to be seen if we have a leader on the team. Lance is a shooter. If he’s on we have a good shot if he’s not he’s going to be bad. Pat who is basically a shooting guard is actually rebounding a lot better this year. Kyles offensive game in my opioin has dropped off and he is more erratic this year. Karnik needs to stop hesitating when he gets the ball. Again. I think we are better then we play. But this team does not want to put 40 mins together and play a complete game. This league is wide open. But all of a sudden. Those few teams who we may have circled as wins might not be so easy. American won’t be easy but is a must win. Home games are a must. Local product Sam iorio from parkland will be there for American. Kid can really play.
January 12, 2018 at 5:12 am #33528Need to pick up a wins with these few home games coming up

January 12, 2018 at 5:34 pm #33532The league is rapidly improving. Bucknell getting healthy, and should come out on top, BU is very solid #2. Service academies are solid, probably 3/4. Then, I would say Lehigh and Colgate on the third tier. The bottom feeders appear to be Loyola. Lafayette, HC and American. But, Lafayette is improving every game, American has young talent, and Loyola did beat BU. HC looks like a last place team.
If Lehigh improves, maybe they get into that 3/4 territory, but no higher. 6 games left in January. Hopefully, we get home wins in next 2 (American/Colgate), likely loss at Army, then 2 more home wins (Loyola/Navy), and we sneak a win up in Worchester to end the month. Knowing how we play at HC, that is a likely loss, so I’d be happy with 4-2 rest of January. 5-1 will show this team is a contender. If we start losing at home, pitchers and catchers coming soon.
January 12, 2018 at 5:46 pm #33533Lots of IFS with this bunch. Aside from zero frontline depth, main issue to me is the loss of focus. Bison game we let mistakes cascade early in 2nd half TOs, missed open shots missed assignments and effort on D. We devolved into a mob not a team. Ross in particular. We cant seem to maintain focus for an entire game. We are not mentally tough enough.
At our best we can beat anyone in PL. -
