January 14, 2018 at 9:58 pm #33546Watching NFL so only got twitter updatesvand clips. Nice W. KR with 8 assts produces points from our 2 man frontline.
January 14, 2018 at 10:17 pm #33548lost focus a little in the last few minutes, but overall a solid effort, American is undermanned for sure
January 15, 2018 at 3:41 pm #33555Solid win. Not great but solid and NEEDED. What’s more, it was witnessed by 1358 fans (500 > than normal).
Note to Rich H., A.A.D. and Director of Marketing: Continue to do what you did on Sunday to boost attendance. Run promotions. If necessary, give tixs away. I sincetely believe the fans played a role in this win.
January 15, 2018 at 10:48 pm #33558I agree. I have been saying this for years. They need to do more things to get people in that arena. It’s sad. Wish they could come up with more intermission stuff. Get the kids involved more.
January 15, 2018 at 10:49 pm #33559Also keep in mind. Sam Iorio. A local had a lot of friends and family there. I follow his high school and saw a bunch of parkland kids at stabler. Former coaches as well. He got a nice ovation. Tough game tho
January 16, 2018 at 1:31 am #33561Did LU not sign an agreement with Leerfield? I thought that they were supposed to work on marketing.

Learfield is responsible for “marketing” to corporate sponsors and other partners. Not game day, fans in the seats marketing.
January 17, 2018 at 2:55 pm #33576If I am not mistaken, first time we have been over 1,000 in attendance this season. It’s a disgrace.
Do we typically draw more in the weekend matinee games than in the night games?
Expect, we will get over 1000 for Bucknell at home, but that may be it.
January 17, 2018 at 5:08 pm #33579Home Attendance around the league is truly sad. As it stands right now, here are the numbers/standings:
Bucky #1 (after 3 games) 2,401
Lehigh #5 (after 2 games) 1,086
American U. #10 (after 3 games in) 298I can’t imagine how it must feel to be a loyal supporter of AU Basketball – no less the student athlete! All the more reason to bring-on those OOC games against opponents the likes of USC, Pitt and UVA. As it was this year in case of the Lehigh student athlete and fan.
PS Last season, we finished 6th in Home Attendance, averaging 1,312 fans/game. Bucky topped the list @ 2,359/game.
January 17, 2018 at 5:47 pm #3358065, you are being generous, only including the 2 PL games, one our biggest crowd by about double the average. For season:
Monmouth (Tues) 779
Siena (Fri) 767
Eastern D3 (Sun) 643
Yale (Wed) 776
MSM (Sat) 694
HC (Fri) 814
American (Sun) 1358Total 5831
Avg (7 games) 833Doesn’t really matter opponent, date, time, anything. We have about 800 legit Lehigh basketball fans. And, that number might be pumped (tickets sold vs. people in house, not sure how they get the figure posted).
It is a shame. I think D1 basketball, even at the lower levels is a good product and highly entertaining. But, unfortunately, many high school programs around the country outdraw us.
Whatever they did for American was obviously positive, as 1350 is not embarrassing. Under 1000 is pretty embarrassing IMO.
In looking at other programs we played, for the away games:
Marist 1387 (not bad, their opener)
USC 3125 (weak for ranked Pac 10 school, T’giving week)
Pitt 3317 (weak for ACC, T’giving week)
Princeton 1292 (where Lehigh attendance should be)
UVA 13594 (Top 5 ACC)
St. Francis 672 (bad, but may be all of Loretto)
Lafayette 1673 (some LV crossover perhaps, but strong)
Navy 632 (awful)
BU 403 (pathetic, that is 1.2% of the student body, and 2.4% of undergrads)
Bucknell 2404 (solid)I’d certainly like to see us in the Princeton, Marist, Lafayette area (1300-1700). If I was a recruit, and had choice of 5 offers, and you brought me to Stabler with 600-800 fans in attendance, that is a really tough sell. At least your parents don’t have to wait in line for a pretzel, wait for the bathroom, or have to drive around looking for parking.
January 17, 2018 at 8:03 pm #33582Tixs to tonight’s game: $8 to $26.25!
Are you kidding me?
Wonder how many non-season ticket holders will show up?Why not…..
Open the doors to all H.S. kids with a student I’D. Hit em up for a buck. Charge their parents (assume one or more may come along….if for no other reason than to drive… $5. Stock up on pizza and popcorn. Make money on concessions.
Host an area HS game at 4om. Many might stick around for our 7pm tip.
Realize it’ll take planning a year out, but why not?I’m sure there are plenty of ideas out there. Something needs to be done!
January 17, 2018 at 8:12 pm #33583Great idea. Old MSG did that often. Kids in free w HS ID.

Might be an interesting idea, but not legal under NCAA rules. Would be nice for a Lehigh or Bucknell, but many of the big programs would start hosting HS games involving their prime recruits as an additional recruiting tool. Playing a couple of games in Rupp Arena or Cameron Indoor in front of a packed house might be a nice recruiting edge.
