HC @ Bucky … Bucky by 16
LC @ AU … AI by 2
BI @ Navy … Navy by 4
LUM @ CU … CU by 9Let me remind you that KenPom was 1 for 5 on Wednesday night, correctly hitting on only the Bucky win. His biggest miss was calling BU by 11 when AU won by 11.
Note: Our KenPom ranking of 247th is the lowest it has been all season. You might recall that we opened the year at Marist ranked 181st in the Nation.Tomorrow’s Game
Loved RichH’s comments to close out the Colgate thread re: Fire and Focus. I can’t help but think those 3 words will not only be our battling cry but Army’s, as well. Like us, The Cadets couldn’t get it going against the 1-win Crusaders of Holy Cross on Wednesday night. Down by 21 in the first half, they fought back- again like us when down by 28 on Wednesday to Colgate – only to run out of gas at the end. The sting had to be equal and should make for thrilling – dare I say firry and focused – play at both end of the Christl Arena court tomorrow afternoon.
Here’s how it went down for Army on Wednesday:

Army is 2-1 at home with W’s over LUM by 11 and LC by 10. Their only L came against Bucky by 17.
Lehigh is 1-3 on the road with a W over LC by 5 and Ls to Navy by 12, to BU by 11, and to Bucky by 13.PL Only Stats of Interest

Believe it or not, with the exception of a four-day span in 2014, the last time LU had a worse Pomeroy ranking this late in the season was in 2009.
January 19, 2018 at 9:09 pm #33617A tough weekend for all our teams. We have at times this season flipped the script and played the 1st half and tried to hang on in the 2nd. If we cant play a whole game this may get us a few more Ws. Wow that was a depressing sentence. Ugh.
January 20, 2018 at 7:36 pm #33620Here we go again. Down 33-15, 7 mins left 1st half. Army hitting 50%.
So Step 1. Dig a huge hole…
2.January 20, 2018 at 7:58 pm #33621Down 50-31 at half. Army shooting 63%.
Stopped watching. I asked for fire and focus. Got neither. Perimeter D useless. In zone we 5-6 feet away. A getting lots of free shots. Man to man. Oh geez dont ask. Pathetic.January 20, 2018 at 8:01 pm #33622Object lesson. WBB has missed 10 shots in a row. Only got 4 pts via FTs. They increased their lead by playing D.
January 20, 2018 at 8:10 pm #3362365, I saw u sitting in the stands. How long did it take you to get there? We started so poorly. Defense is awful.
January 20, 2018 at 8:53 pm #33624Typical defensive first half. Give up 50.
January 20, 2018 at 9:08 pm #3362593-81
We just dont play D. 2nd half more energy. Wilson hit for 20. Still not much D .
Not gonna bother with post game. Doc will correctly analyze the crap out of game. Not doing a great job with fixing it.January 21, 2018 at 12:31 am #33628Glad the trip home was just 45 minutes, compared to the usual 90. Listless, tired, and detached. Not me but the players for the first 30 minutes. Eight games into the schedule and we have been on the short end of the halftime score 5 times. Sometimes by as much as 19, 24, or 28 points. It’s wearing on the team’s most loyal fans. Hell, the only fire I saw came from the bench. And, more often than not from our Walk-ons. Sad commentary.
The second half showed me we can stand toe to toe with a poised hot-shooting team I’m their own gym. It’ll bring me back, as I’m sure it will others.
Coaches, find an answer. Please.
See ya Wednesday.
January 21, 2018 at 4:36 am #33629What is it with defense and Lehigh football and men’s basketball this season? This is not normal to yield 60% shooting, 50+ points in the first half in hoops, and to yield 300 yards of offense and 30+ points in football. The problem is it seems like it’s becoming a characteristic of the whole athletic department, and it bothers me.
January 21, 2018 at 5:15 am #33630Agree LFN on the D:
I stopped watching LU hoops last year. A team loaded with that kind of talent — yes, they were shorthanded — should have played a lot better.
I’ve been a Lehigh football fan 50 years or so, watching as much as I can. Sadly, unless the D improves big time this year, I cannot see watching games into 2019.
The 2018 team will have some fun offensive players to watch, but without star replacements (the bar really is high) and a dramatically improved defense how fun will it be?
