Which AP will show up today? The confident AP who can go strong to the basket against just about anyone? Or the one who misses his first 2 or 3 treys and disappears for the next 20 minutes? I absolutely agree with others who say he is one of the keys for this team to do something special this year.

Andree’s health is another. First item on my list this p.m. at Stabler; is Pat out for warm ups?

ALL eyes on the “D” today. A REDEMPTION GAME, if you will. Anything less than 62 pts allowed or anything greater than 37.7% PGA (both their averages) would be highly disappointing. The “O” will take of itself.

My only request: A healthy PA, whether he plays or not.

Ugly game. Officials let way too much go early and rugby ensued. Defensive win on a night baskets were hard to come by. Missed a bunch of peeps but physicality contributed to this. TK seemed to be gang tackled during his possessions. On post game radio he said they expected R. Morris would “muck it up”, but it took until 2nd half to adjust.

Doc on post game was pleased with the defense, particularly Holba (8 pts, 8 rebs, 2 blcks), who he identified as the tone setter in the first half. AP also all over the floor on defense.

Nothing seemed easy tonight, but its a “w” in the books.

A couple of notes I found interesting.

1.)Kempton noted that they didn’t touch the ball over their last 2 practices. The focus was entirely on defense. I suppose it paid off.

2.)At he Princeton game, Lieb was wearing a noticeable boot. I didn’t see one tonight. Hopefully, he is on track to return in the not to distant future.

That’s for updates. Didn’t see any of game, so would appreciate as much detail as possible.

We played pretty well at the opening. There was good ball movement. We played tough defense and took a 22-13 lead. Then the bottom fell out. I think RM went on a 19-2 run. We seemed to abandon the 3 pt shot during that stretch and instead did a lot of driving to the basket but didn’t seem to know what to do when we got in the paint. There were a lot of TOs (I think we had more TOs than assists) and a lot of ill advised shots plus we missed our share of peeps. Ross made a 3 at the end of the 1st half which brought it back to 32-27. We stepped up the pressure in the 2nd half and got Tim more involved. I think he had 9 of his 10 boards in the 2nd half. Notable Price had 7 assists….Ross only 1. He also had a really nice steal that put the game away at the end.
1.) RM played a match up zone for at least part of the game which really through our offense off. Remember Holy Cross?
2.)The refs allowed a lot of contact. Maybe a good thing because we can’t afford to have TK in foul trouble.
3.) My pet peeve for this game at least is our propensity to give up a wide open 3 in order to take a contested 2 4 to 5 ft closer.
I hope that helps a little.

Also of note, Tim had 3 blocks and the team had 13 offensive boards. Both of those have been missing over the last few years.

And TK had the best dunk in recent LU history. Gotta go back to Queenan to see one that authoritative. The video is on the LU athletics site.

Missed the game but recall Tom Fallon (radio announcer) saying at one point “the bench stood and clapped.” And that occurred after a stop! Couldn’t be happier. Apparently, the “D” message has been delivered. Hope it pays dividends going foreard.
