The Hawks are struggling through a losing streak right now and had their best overall effort in a close loss to #3 ranked Villanova. After a loss on the road last weekend to Minnesota the team has had exams this week.

We have two freshman guards that are very quick and fun to watch as they get more time and the greatest weaknesses have been rebounding, overall interior defense, and too frequently rotating late on jump switches. With the exception of defeating Boston College at the Paradise Jam in St. Thomas SJU has played better in Philadelphia either on campus at Hagan Arena or the Villanova game at The Palestra than they have on the road.

I was at Stabler Arena last year and it is an easy ride from Saint Joe’s. It seems like there is a bit of weather coming this weekend but right now the forecasts seem to have the heaviest snows south of Philadelphia (I live at the shore and one station is calling for 20" here) Since the game is Sunday night you shouldn’t have much trouble. To get to Hawk Hill just take the Northeast Extension (476) south to the PA 76 eastbound (Schuylkill Expressway) to City Avenue exit. You will bear right at the light onto City Avenue – also Route 1 – south for 5 minutes. You will see a distincitve tower on your left in the distance as you approach the campus. Turn left onto 54th Street and in the first third of that block there is an entrance to garage parking on your left and open parking on your right. The Michael J. Hagan Arena is on the corner of 54th Streets and Overbrook Avenue, just a half block further on 54th Street from the parking entrances. You can enter on the 54th Street side if you park in the garage or the campus side if you park in the open lot. Note that if you are picking up tickets there you will want to use the campus entrance.

I suspect that there will be a reasonable availability of tickets as our dorms will be closed and so many of the students will have gone home for the holidays. The Hagan Arena just opened this season after being closed last year for renovations and the construction of the new adjacent Ramsay Basketball Center. You can call the Hawk ticket office at 610-660-1712 or http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/TicketPurchase?organ_val=21694&schedule=list

We also enjoy good natured pre-game banter with opposing fans and especially appreciate insights and discussions with teams that are not always on our schedule to learn more about your squad. Please visit us at http://www.HawkHoopClub.proboards.com
