Notes up. Stubbs out. Casliw and Ripanti listed, fwiw.Gate favored by 2.5, essentially it is a dead even game.
November 10, 2015 at 11:29 pm #23447It may be interesting to see how the staff handles the Mayes-Shafnisky situation over the next 2 games. This game may be quite different than the last 2 for 2 reasons. Georgetown and Holy Cross are both near the bottom in sacks in the PL. Colgate is #2 with 50% more than either of the last 2 opponents. Fordham is #1 and Mayes threw 3 picks in a half. Secondly, the weather has been near perfect for the last 2 games. The prediction for Saturday is a high of 41 with snow showers in the morning and 10-20 mph winds. Not exactly ideal conditions for a freshman from the Tampa area.
As for Lafayette, Shafnisky had a similar freshman debut 2 years ago, leading the team to two wins just prior to the big game. Instead Coen elected to go with the more experienced McHale.
IMO, just something to look for in the next couple of games.November 11, 2015 at 12:13 am #23448Gate D worlds better than FU and better than GU. Gate same base offense, option run attack.
Is a third game slump a thing? Hope not.November 11, 2015 at 12:18 am #23449I was going to say same thing about Mayes n cold weather TMH, good catch. Has he even seen snow, curious to how he react to cold weather. A interesting predicament for Coen. If Mayes struggles early, got go go with Nick, to much on the line.
November 11, 2015 at 12:32 am #23454Andy should have some idea about how Brad handles the chill during practice. If he can’t adapt by Saturday, well Nick a pretty decent option
November 11, 2015 at 1:46 am #23455gotta keep a spy on Melville, he is the engine that makes them go
they do not seem very big on D, maybe we can out-physical them
really believe our guys can win this if they play a clean game (no turnovers and no dumb stuff)
November 11, 2015 at 3:53 am #23467Ditto Van’s comments and …
How’d J.B. Clark, another Florida kid, play in the cold weather?
He was two-time MVP of LU-LAF game, according to http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/lehigh/index.ssf/2010/08/jb_clark_explains_reasons_for.html
Agree with Lehigh Guy: “If Mayes struggles early, got go go with Nick, too much on the line”
November 11, 2015 at 5:21 am #23471We have plenty of balance on offense to keep ‘gate honest. Key is stopping their run/option QB. Need to pressure/penetrate to ‘force’ him to make decisions sooner than he wants. Being ‘uncomfortable’ causes turnovers.
November 11, 2015 at 3:27 pm #23476The early weather report calls for “snow showers” overnight in Hamilton, high of 40 on Saturday with only a 10% chance of precipitation. In other words, Indian Summer up at Colgate.
November 11, 2015 at 3:44 pm #23477Definitely short sleeve weather
November 11, 2015 at 7:22 pm #23483From presser today. Nick starting. Brad PT determined by game situation. Caslow definitely in ,no word on Ripanti.
One note from practice. Cold rainy weather had no impact on Brad.-

November 11, 2015 at 8:33 pm #23485Also from presser,TJ likely out for the year with a back injury. Montgomery and Wilmington dinged, questionable. No mention of Ripanti so hopefully OK.
November 11, 2015 at 8:43 pm #23488That TJ injury is a real shame. He was really starting to break out before the injury.
DL Julian Lynn is yet another frosh that has stepped in on this depth chart and played extremely well. This freshman class has been extraordinary.
November 11, 2015 at 8:47 pm #23489Hard to believe TJ a senior next yr. Guy has had a tough road. Wonder if he may be eligible for a 5th. Lynn,Caveness and Johnson have all stepped up.
November 11, 2015 at 11:52 pm #23493Per Tom Fallon ,Ripanti questionable at best, likely out
