Back to back matches in venerable Grace Hall. Saturday afternoon is a tune up with F&M followed by a big showdown with the Big Red, ranked #6. Lehigh comes in ranked #10. Cornell will be favored, but there is a path to victory if everyone hits their potential, and that includes not giving up bonus points. Some significant match ups that will impact seedings for the EIWA and NCAA: Beckman v Grey at 133, Minotti v. Realbuto at 157, #3 Brown v. #1 Dean at 184, Riddick v. Bennett at 197. How well Parker battles #2 Garrett will be a real barometer for him. Cruz may be capable of a bonus point win. Grace is already selling only SRO tickets. A noisy “Pit” is a great place to be. Be there or be isosceles.

Lehigh had a tough 21-9 loss to Cornell. Minotti lost 11-8 on a late 5 point takedown. Nate Brown and Riddick lost heartbreakers.

We are showing good progress but this loss is painful.

Painful because we were right there with them in so many bouts. Two in overtime and Minotti’s loss can be great learning experiences come March. Many kids would have ‘run’ with a two point lead and 30 seconds to go. Freshman Parker at 125 took last year’s national finalist to the limit, also. Another 6 weeks until the EIWA when it all matters. Great crowd, SRO, with lots of noise. Need that more often.

    MS64:
Loss unfortunate, but good news is dual meet doesn’t mean squat. The fact our guys were in position to win all those bouts is huge. They know what they have to do to win next time, when it counts at EIWAs, then nationals.

Seems like team is pretty deep, and could have a good run at EIWAs and nationals … future IS bright.
