Have to think Lieb is out for the year at this point. Last update was 12/12 and radio silence since. Anyone out there have any info?
Would be tough to integrate him this late in the year as far as fitness, knocking off the rust, and fitting into the squad. Not to mention asking him to burn a year of eligibility for a half season.
Hope I’m wrong but not optimistic.
January 10, 2017 at 11:39 pm #30308You may well be right, but it depends on the injury. To get a fifth year of eligibility, the Lehigh doctors will have to certify that he was unable to play due to medical reasons even in February. And they will have to produce medical records to back up that certification. There are clearly gray areas and there are doctors who will stretch the truth a bit, but I don’t think doctors at this level will blatantly lie about the medical situation.
January 11, 2017 at 1:35 am #30312he still shows on game notes as key reserve, not that means anything
January 11, 2017 at 1:57 am #30313I’m fairly sure his season is over. I’ll try to get confirmation. He is a pretty imposing young man size-wise. It’s a shame we can’t get him on the court.
January 11, 2017 at 2:19 am #30315I don’t think it is too hard to get a medical redshirt. Look at Semi Ojeleye at SMU, the Duke transfer. Last year, he, by all accounts, was healthy and ready to go after he sat out his year. All of a sudden, SMU gets probation. He then sits another year due to “injury”, since they didn’t want to waste a year where NCAA was not possible. They didn’t even try to hide what they were doing.

[/quote]Did he re-injure himself? Things seemed positive there in early December.
Crazy to think that out of the last 4 recruited big men, Reed and Co have received 2 out of a possible 6 seasons thus far (Sedore 0/2, Holba 1/2, Andree 1/1, Lieb 0/1). That is tough luck on the whole program.
January 11, 2017 at 3:44 am #30321Not sure what’s going on here. I’m not counting on him.
January 12, 2017 at 2:13 am #30332We are cursed with bigs. Remember only got a year out of McCarthy as well.
January 12, 2017 at 3:55 pm #30340Any information on Wolf or Sedore?
January 12, 2017 at 4:06 pm #30341Sedore ha another ACL tear..he is certainly done for this season. I’m not sure if his career is over. Wolf is a very unheralded walk-on. He is tall but I would not expect to see any meaningful minutes from him. So far 1 minute, 1 TO, 1 PF.
January 13, 2017 at 3:16 am #30342A triple single …

January 13, 2017 at 2:47 pm #30345I think the template for Wolf is David Safstrom. Safstrom was the last recruited walk on big man in the program and turned into a contributor by his senior year playing about 9mpg in 29 games.

January 13, 2017 at 4:39 pm #30348Are you sure Safstrom was a walk-on? If I go back to the 2007-2008 roster, there were 14 players listed. Hunter and Pellulo were certain walk-ons.
Reed as a real aversion to playing walk-ons other than last minute mop-up duties, no matter the resume they came here with. Brian Hunter was POY in the Lehigh Valley averaging 22 ppg. He got 11 minutes in 8 games. Cole Renninger was 2nd team AAAA All-state and only got cleanup minutes except for Penn State Palo-Alto. Safstrom played 29 minutes in 10 games in his freshman year.January 23, 2017 at 3:07 am #30491Any news on lieb. Is he still healing? Did he have a set back? I guess it’s safe to say we will not see him.
January 23, 2017 at 3:45 am #30493Safstrom was a walk-on, 100%.
