Man, the dude loves to shoot the 3. They certainly run a lot of high pick and roll, with him as the pick and pop shooter. Does show some of his atheticism running the floor and a couple blocks. #21 in the black uniform.
March 21, 2012 at 7:50 pm #5578It is not the style I was expecting/hoping for. I was hoping for an Adams/Maneri prototype who will bang inside. He is much more Jordan Hamilton. This is not a knock on anyone but more of a need that must be filled. Chuku just seemed to spend a lot of time away from the basket for someone his size. Just my opinion from one video.
March 21, 2012 at 8:02 pm #5579It’s actually every video, most of his attempts come from 3. He does look like a JH replacement. I should have mentioned that the team he is playing in the video, Vermont Academy, has 2 Rivals Top150 players that are juniors. They are both being recruited by most of the national powerhouses. So, the competition is strong.
March 21, 2012 at 8:31 pm #5580I think Chuku’s body, athleticism, and game actually more closely resembles that of Greneir. Good skill set for his size, very long and lanky, loves to shoot threes and get out in transition for dunks. Greneir has had plays like his back door alley-oop against MSU and putback dunk against American and I hope to see those types of things from Chuku. I see Hamilton as more of a glue guy, move the ball on offense, and play solid D with the occassional long ball thrown in. No offense to JH, but I’d rather have a HG clone than a JH clone.
My bad if that’s nitpicking, it’s just that Chuku has reminded me of Greneir from day 1.
March 21, 2012 at 8:50 pm #5581I hope he is better than both of them. His body is legit. Looks like a good 3 ball shooter. Should be a great rebounder for his size. I hope his has some game off the bounce. He can certainly run the floor. Looks like a big upgrade from JH and our bench wings.
March 22, 2012 at 1:17 am #5582Good find, also will note there are some good videos on KUA web site from this past season. This video, very similar to the other ones I’ve posted, lots of 3s and putback dunks/layups. I think he is longer then HG and probably more athletic, but yes, most accurate comparison to someone currently on the team. HE will be able to run the floor with MM/CJ/BJB/DC and get a lot of dunks in transition. What we’ve not seen from him in any video is the ability to beat a guy off the dribble, maybe that is his next step for growth in his game. He should be able to D up almost all the 4’s in PL with his length and athletic ability, but by no means a clogger. He is a good find for PL, he should do well from day one, expect atleast 15 minutes a game next year with our weak front court.
March 22, 2012 at 3:00 am #5584Do we have any rebounding #s on him?
March 22, 2012 at 3:10 pm #5589Can’t find any rebounding numbers on him for the season. Scoring wise, his final scoring average, as per the Coaches blog, was 13.7 per game. He ended up on the Second Team for Class AA. I can’t see the Lehigh coaches allowing him to be a 3 point shooting specialist. He does not project as a 2 guard for Lehigh. He is going to need to develop as a wing with a mid-range game, both shooting and off the dribble. And, with his body, he is going to be called on to rebound the basketball.
March 22, 2012 at 3:19 pm #5590By dint of necessity both Fs look to get PT next season. I dont expect much from either but some minutes. Think both will be solid in a year or two
March 24, 2012 at 4:22 am #5623Sitting here watching Adams and Andoh’s former high school team easily walk to a second state title and the girls won too.
First, so proud of the team, especially proud of the seniors. As expected, looking forward to the other players. A few observations. HG ankle appears healed, I think mentally he could not get back in the flow. When JA came in and did as well as he did, it was difficult for HG to re enter the starting spot. When Adams started a few games last year, HG seem to have trouble with confidence. If there is no one to challenge him next year, he will be fine. Watch his body language when he does not do well. GK stepped up big time, the toughness in that Duke game was incredible and oh yeah, my man Maneri, sliding under the table. Have you guys seen the photo with that intensity as he slid under the table? Awesome. In regards to JH, Reed made him the starter, so we had to live with that decision. CB will take care of business, no worries. As for the new recruit Goldsborough, not sure about his toughness, may look good preseason, but the PL is another another story. JA, JH, way to go guys. Way to represent!
I look forward to another run, but talent alone will not get it done. JA and JM were leaders down the stretch. Will we have unselfish seniors next year? Teamwork and defense win games! Go LU! I can’t wait until next year!
Oh yes, I hear all the comments about Hamilton, but let’s not forget, the seniors were a huge part of the win against Duke. Give them credit, Reed did! -
