Lehigh used a balanced attack on both the offensive and defensive end to sink the Navy Midshipmen 64-56 Tuesday night at Stabler Arena. As a team the Mountain Hawks shot a season-best 51 percent for the game and were led by three players who finished in double figures: junior Erica Prosser (14), sophomore Emily Gratch (14) and senior Alex Ross (13). The Brown and White held the Midshipmens’ leading scorer, junior Cassie Consedine, to zero points as Navy fell to 9-8 (1-1). Lehigh has now won 26 straight home games to improve to 14-3 (1-1) on the season.
The Lady Hawks continued their home dominance yesterday with a thoroughly dominating 64-56 win at Stabler. After an early 3-1 lead by Navy, a 15-0 run (led by Prosser’s 6 point spurt) basically set the tone. As mentioned, Navy’s star center was held to 0 points (and only 6 shots) – props to C Alexa Williams and F Emily Gratch for keeping her in check. Another stat that should make Lady Hawks fans happy: 12 steals (4 from Tricia Smith, 3 from Prosser) compared to Navy’s 3.
Lehigh’s now 14-3 (Real Time RPI: 66). Next up: 6-8 Army (Real Time RPI: 280).
“Army is a good team and just like tonight we know it’s going to be physical,” Troyan said. “It’s going to be a physical, tough game and they’re going to keep it low scoring.”
In other words – don’t believe the Real Time RPI prediction (a 73-52 Lehigh win).
Could be a nice crowd at Stabler at 7:05pm Saturday. This week’s mid-week crowd, 724, isn’t bad by Lehigh standards for a women’s game. Can they break 1,000 for Army?
