Wow. It seems as if each team should be required to share the time on the fileld at half time. Good luck in the playoffs.

Back in the days when it was a little more common for visiting bands to also play at college football games – the visitors usually had the first 6-8 minutes, then the home team the rest of halftime. Note that is what we do with the Pards. (I found it amusing that the PSU band did visit Indiana last weekend, even though the game was at the Redskins’ field)

Van — Have you noticed that we have (besides the football practice fields) 3 lighted stadiums already on the Goodman campus – The Grass Soccer field (seating 1200), The PolyTurf Lacrosse field (seating 1200), and the Astroturf Field Hockey Field (seating 400). The Field hockey field was just built last year, and it involved removing the AstroTurf from what was the combined Lax-FH field, replacing it with PolyTurf, preparing the new FH area putting the AstoTurf there, or was it new AstoTurf, and building the "stadium". Sure, you need more lighting for Goodman Stadium than the others, probably 6 stanchions instead of 4, plus some seating area and behind the grandstand lighting. But I doubt the cost should be that much of an object when we spent what we have for one of (Sadly) LU’s least successful programs.

We could actually experiment with rental lights, see if it improves attendance, but frankly, sooner or later we will have a 90-minute delay caused by a thunderstorm after the return of standard time. That will mean an end of regulation played well after sunset, and an OT played in the dark.

Lights make the possibility of HS playoffs a lot better, but then, for reasons I can’t fathom, administration has seemed to lose interest in hosting HS playoffs. Seems foolish to me; I will bet 2 or 3 playoff games would add 1 or 2 quality walk-ons to our program. Some of the most well attended playoff games in PIAA history (e.g. Manheim-Berwick) were at Goodman. In a newspaper article a couple months ago, PIAA operatives mentioned Goodman as one of 3 or 4 places were they would consider relocating the finals to from Hershey, but obviously it would need lights. More practical might be having Goodman as the primary site for the Eastern Semi-Finals.

The light setup needed for Goodman is significantly different than the other fields, and most field in general (location, field dimensions/stadium set up, etc.)
I had a quick conversation with Joe Sterret about this in 2004, and set said a lighting project would be in the neighborhood of 1 million dollars!
